** Official World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Thread**

I am correct in thinking The Pandarians were present in Warcraft lore before WoW was released?

They were, as a joke (Blizz even stated in an interview) but now taking them seriously :/.

As much as I hated how much easier the expansions made WoW, I appreciated their story progression up til this point.

From the threat of Kel'Thuzad -> Illidan -> Arthas and Deathwing to.. the peacefully mystical land of Pandaria with.. Pandas. Thanks Blizz, you finally slaughtered the Warcraft vibe.
Not hating on the people that want this, but I feel Blizz could have done a lot more for an expansion with all the lore they have in their pocket.

Whilst I agree, the feeling I got from Blizzard was that this expansion was going to be based on Horde vs. Alliance, thus there is no need to have a huge end of expansion boss.

I am hoping that because of this, the expansion never sees 5.3 and ends at 5.2 maybe even 5.1 and that it is a small filler patch to get people back in to the world, do a bit of PVP and then the next expansion will have the big bad boss.

Just a few thoughts I had on the matter :)

I hope this means a lot of people will leave the game, less lag then. :)

As for the expansion. I'm looking forward to it, new zones to explore, a new class - new dungeons etc! A lot of people are missing out how much they are actually putting back in to dungeons. The whole tier dungeon's sounds really good. I heard they're going to make it so if your gear overpowers a instance it gets itemised down? I hope that's true!

I might be missing something obvious here but if thats the case what would be the point in aquiring new gear? Surely you gather new gear to make your job (be that healer / tank / or dps) easier...?

Just decided to resub. I am off work for a few days and had not a lot 2 do.

Gooseuk thunderhorn alliance server for my main.

Orcwardness pvp outlands server horde if any one is on them.

I admit I quit the game, but honestly what I'm seeing isn't making me want to go back right now.

It's not the pandas (although I would rather another race be added if they were to add them) but I'm just not that amazed by what I've heard.

Of course, this is VERY early stuff, in 6 months time I could be singing a completely different tune.

I completely agree with you, i unsubbed after our last LK HC kill for the invincibles as i knew i wouldn't be able to do Cata with exams and stuff (not that it mattered any ways as it opened me to loads of others :D)

Since then nothing has made we want to go back, I've had a few raids here and there on friends characters and the switch stats on to different pieces of armour really excited me but other than that i agree, it has a been there done that feel to it, particularly with raiding.

That said, the amount of **** WoW is taking from the 'why won't it just die' people or 'ROFLPANDAS THEY ARE RUINING WOW AND ITS A JOKE' is completely and utterly retarded, WoW is still an utterly fantastic game, but it is stale for anyone who has pretty much seen everything or done it.

Don't really know where i am going with this but yeah, the amount of **** talked in this thread is ridiculous, bhavv certainly leading the front on a lot of it. Fantastic game, some love it, some loved it and some don't like it, no need to come ruin a thread on some decent discussion on it and fill it with rubbish about how Guild Wars 2 is better (which by the way i am looking forward to immensely, much more than anything blizzard are doing with WoW, before i am labelled a fan boy).

Anyhoo, done typing rubbish, what are peoples views here who play WoW in guilds that raid primarily of having only 18+ members or in general gaming?

The announcement certainly hasn't made me drop my interest in SW:TOR and GW2, but I will always hold a place in my heart for WoW, even if I do get incredibly bored of it and quit as I have done so many times in the past.

Unless something happens to me, I will definitely be playing Mists of Pandaria if only to experience the new content. With my current attitude to games I doubt anything will ever "fill the void" as such from the huge chunk of my life I dedicated to WoW in my late teens, which is in no way a bad thing - we can't spend our entire lives playing a computer game for crying out loud - so I have no worries about it possibly being a bit of a letdown, one-time playthrough affair.

I'm very undecided on the Monk class at the minute, and while I don't hate the Pandaren they hardly excite me, but everything else looks like the kind of things I will enjoy - most importantly the easier mode for raid content which will hopefully banish the elitist "you can't join our raid if you don't have the achievement" attitudes or the total dedication of an entire evening that's prevented me from experiencing any of the Cataclysm endgame. I don't really play WoW in a hardcore way to test my gaming skills, even though I like to think I'm pretty handy at PvP (the new battlegrounds sound great by the way), so it'd be nice to have a more casual look at the climaxes of the expansion's story. This is also being implemented in 4.3, isn't it? As I said, I haven't done any of the raids at all in Cataclysm, but I'd definitely like to experience the Deathwing fight.

I thought you got new gear to AFK in Stormwind and be the envy of every adventurer in the land?

Personally I think its a nice change of pace for wow. As they said at blizzcon the whole wow theme as been freaking dark for ages and really moved away from the main plotline of warcraft which is well war horde against alliance.

You know its been OMFG BIG BOSS KILLING AZEROTH, then OFMG ILLIDAN KILLING OUTLAND, then OMFG LICH KING IS BACK KILLING NORTHREND, then OMFG DEATHWING KILLING THE WORLD !!! its gotten old and lost the main plot which was and always meant to be Horde V Alliance. Its also quite nice to not have this whole super serious really dark expansion. I think it will be nice to see pretty sights for a change.

Oh I always want to play more Pokemon too :D So pokemon in wow is awesome :p

You're thinking about dungeon challenges - timed dungeon runs that will scale your gear down to a level specific to the dungeon.

That's going to be pretty cool.

In response to the other guy who quoted me, I guess it's for those players who still want a challenge every so often, or if you just have 2 or 3 friends who want to do a quick dungeon and not a 2 hour raid? :)

Can't dispute the first half of your post - the whole 'big, bad villain' thing for each successive expansion has got a bit tired. This seems like a refreshing change of perspective. I'll reserve full judgement until I've played it, but I WILL be playing it - I still enjoy WoW enormously and whilst that remains the case, why stop? Besides, for me the idea of kicking arse as a ninja panda does have big novelty value ...

Indifferent to the duelling pets thing though - all seems VERY Pokemon to me and as such, I'll be giving it the swerve!

I think the idea behind the pokemon thing was to try and give people things to do. I will admit I have done it before where I log on my char and just hang around in Org for a while just doing nothing except chatting to guildies and other friends.

My guess is the idea of the pokemon is to give people who tend to log on and just hang around in a city doing nothing something to do. I know quite a few of my guildies that will log on almost every evening and just sit in Org because they don't want to quest they don't want to do a random dungeon but they want to chat to people. So playing a bit of pokemon on down time is a good thing imo :p

But yea I'm quite looking forward to it, I'm still really enjoying the game. Raiding is still a lot of fun, people can QQ all they want about the FL nerfs yet I bet most of them still havn't killed Raggy HC which is solid as a bloody rock ! especially p4 !!!

Maybe they just can't really top Deathwing at the moment? Only really Sargeras is bigger and badder in the Warcraft universe and another Burning Legion expansion would bore the hell out of me.

The only question is how much more emphasis will be put on PvP in this expansion in contrast with the last three? If it is meant to be going back to Alliance vs Horde, how much PvE content can you squeeze out of that?

Really not sure on MoP.. seems way too kiddy.

They basically copied Pokémon straight up, can't believe it still to this moment. I don't think I'll bother doing any of that.

Yeah they don't seem to have mentioned that much about the Alliance vs Horde (or have they and I have missed it) apart from Metzen in his intro speech.

Be interesting to see how that side of things develops over time. I do hope they do something decent with that side of it apart from 'your panderan character gets to choose Horde or Alliance at lvl 10'.

Edit in response to Moomoo above : I get why you can think it is 'too kiddy' with Kung Fu panda being thrown up at every turn, but when you look past that and see the awesome new models, zones, dungeons and features of the xpac, to me personally its looking like one of the best yet - even with Pokemon included :p

Don't care what anyone says, Pandas are badass and I will probably end up race changing to one on my priest! :)

*hollow laughter*

Before EVERY expansion pigs squeal how Blizzard now 'OMFGG ROONED TEH GAME!!11', yet sub numbers hold steady. I swear people see it as their duty to be as dumb, stupid, loud and ignorant as possible. Making noise for the sake of making noise. You don't like what they're doing with it, kindly, really bugger off, nobody gives two craps whether you leave or not. Blizz will probably find another two to replace you until you inevitably come back :)

As always, I'll buy it a few months after release when starting areas have eased clear and slowly level to 90, playing a few hours a month when and where I can.
