** Official World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Thread**

Some massive fan boy children in here, both games are fantastic in their own respect, and I'm sure this expansion will still have plenty of fun raids and what have you for plenty of people, playable pandas aren't going to ruin the game.

I admit I quit the game, but honestly what I'm seeing isn't making me want to go back right now.

It's not the pandas (although I would rather another race be added if they were to add them) but I'm just not that amazed by what I've heard.

Of course, this is VERY early stuff, in 6 months time I could be singing a completely different tune.

After having my health go from 14k to 100k+, I love Guild Wars even more for not throwing the stats out the window over the last 6 years.

Stat inflation is something which bugs me in games, it all becomes a bit silly and rather meaningless when you have 2,160 strength, 82,000 armour and 300,000 hit points and are hitting for 24,680 points of damage.

Just watched the trailer and thought, wait, what? This isn't April 1st. :D

Wow, WoW. Just, wow.

Honestly can't believe that this is the best Blizzard could come up with to compete against GW2 and SWTOR...

It is annoying, however it is the only way to make the new content challenging...

If there was no stat inflation then everyone in end gear items now would never have to change their gear.

I do think that with the release of each expansion the stats should be readjusted however I could imagine that would take a lot of time on Blizzards part.

Oh and for the people who are saying Vanilla was the best, please take off your rose tinted glasses... TBC was the best expansion as it added to much more to the game. It was difficult but not the stupid stupid endless grind that vanilla was.

to be honest, it seems to me as though blizzard have already accepted that WoW's halcyon days (e.g. vanilla/tbc) are now more than over, and it is now essentially just a themed franchise cash-cow to milk at will. the current promotional offer they're running smacks of this: "buy 12 month subscription to WoW and get diablo 3 and early beta access for free". when have blizzard ever offered anything like that before? they're giving away a brand new game of theirs in order to prop up the dwindling subscription base of their portfolio's biggest earner.

as for the expansion itself... very disappointing. i haven't played WoW much since tbc, and personally only took a passing interest in wotlk/cataclysm, but anyone can see that this expansion just isn't up to scratch. the 'concept' behind it fails; it's a massive /facepalm. an asian continent with pandas as the main new 'wow' feature? are you kidding? this clearly seems to me like blizzard are just shifting focus onto their last big remaining (and unfussy) market: WoW-asia. a chinese themed expansion pack for a dying mmo that will only hold a market in the next 2-3 years primarily in... china and asia. no surprises there. play to your audience and give them what they want!

myself, i have the sneaking suspicion that they're already well into the development now of the 'true' successor to WoW (aka WoW 2, no-name next-gen mmo project), and are just lazily throwing out a last few scraps to anyone who will still bite from the original WoW.

Well in an ideal world new content in a game would be challenging because it would have improved AI etc (stuff like the mobs locking onto healers and targetting them instead of whaling away on a plated guy and ignoring the fact that some other guy is healing him) , rather than simply adding 0000s onto stats. But then gamers do tend to love to see big numbers on things. I just find it becomes a bit silly (not just in WoW, but speaking generally) when we start talking about having 12,000 armour and hitting someone for 20,000 points of damage. :)

They have said a lot of times there are working on it. They got asked in the Q&A dev panel about it too. And still they refuse to comment on anything apart from its in the works.

If you look on the Blizzard Jobs site there are jobs for the new MMO project in certain areas.

People always say Vanilla was a huge grind...how was it? I honestly don't remember that.

There were attunements and stuff but they were quest chains that added flavor to the game, hardly grinds. Getting resistance gear was also a good mechanic in my eyes, it felt like you were preparing to take on the raid instead of randomly showing up and facerolling it.

Farming materials took much longer for starters. Oh and reputation grinds. Winterspring Sabre Trainers pre rep buffs anyone?

I just don't see how they'll fit it into the existing game, or rather the other way round.

Doesn't look like I'd be resubbing for it. Interesting that they're offering 1 year subscriptions with a "free" copy of Diable III though.
