** Official World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Thread**

im considering getting WoW, but people seem to get obsessed with it and their community seems full of rude nerds who take a game far too seriously :(

kinda scares you off.

same with anything really the people are much more vocal when theres something to moan about than when theres something to praise.

Its annoying that the game has been down for sure but in all my years of playing ive never once felt like i didnt get value for money and any issues today wont do anything to detract from that :)

Plenty more games to play :)

theres two community groups to be fair. one is full of the types you mention but there is a minority, it feels like that anyway, who treat it as a game and just enjoy it.
it made me laugh on their forums when i saw a thread about a guy cancelling his subscription purely down to the connection problems today :D

Mists was kind of a let down if you don't have anyone to play it with. I found myself doing the same dailies over and over for 2 weeks trying to fit it in each day. Gave up in the end. Lost all motivation for the game but that's just me I guess

why don't some of them go outside and get some fresh air? or talk to a loved one? or play another game for a while?

I mean a game to me is for some enjoyment in an evening or a weekend for a few hours. Yet the WoW community act like its the most important thing in existence.

That's the effect that WoW has on some people though, like it's the most important thing ever and nothing else will do. It does suck you in though

There's ways to get away from idiots. I take it a bit too far but I've turned all my global channels (full of morons), whispers (cEN yu Plox juin my guilt)', trade channels (idiots), yell/say (spammers and general idiots) and LFG. Basically the only people I talk to are a bunch of 'lonely adventurers' like me in a special channel we have to ask for help if needed. Rest of the time it feels like a single player game to me. Only times I might turn things on again is in the early AM's when the kids are in bed. Bit more mature crowd then.

It's also worth it to do any BG's after midnight for the same reason above. If I can only play during 'kids and idiot hours', I also make sure that BG/ is turned off.

Maybe it's just me but after 6 years of playing, this is the most enjoyable way for me to play.

Also, have literally all professions apart from Inscription and BlackSmithing maxed. Complete cuts down on the 'Yu wnt Mngose inchent??? Thts 20000g lolololol tnx'.

Research your realms first is my advice. It's a HUGE part whether your game is going to be enjoyable or not.

How do you know what realms are good and what realms arn't?

I've noticed that the realm i'm on, Doomhammer, is far emptier now than 6 months ago.

He'll be back before midnight when he finally realise Blizzard or nobody for that matter could give a rat's bum :p

My advice would be twofold. Stick with the old servers. Stick with RP servers. Far more mature player base (now deteriorating sadly) and better populated (purely for AH reasons). Just for example the character naming is strict and enforced by players and GM's . You don't see players running around on Argent Dawn called 'FrodoPwnsYou' as they'll be outcasts. So the idiot that comes with that name isn't there. Things used to be structured and everyone adhered to the RP realms policy rules and still do to a degree. At least the more serious guilds do. I'm not into any RP myself but those who do tend to be quite intelligent and quirky and enjoyable to be around. And they make up the majority of the realm.

That's my thinking anyway.

RP ?

Just had a quick look and I can still log in to the character screen, just when trying to enter the world it seems to bomb out.

Same thing thats happening for most people I think

I've just tried logging in again and now leaving the character screen on. It's amazing indeed. Might get the album if iTunes have it.

They do indeed, downloading it now :D

Yep, the older realms do seem to be better. I've been on Khadgar for years and it does seem more mature than others due to it's age.
