****** Official World of Warships Thread ******

Spawn as a group - You don't spawn as a group on WoT, It's no issue there, the same applies here, just the distance's appart are abit further.

It doesnt take 5mins to drive from your spawn to the other side of the map where your team mates spawn in WoT though, hence it not mattering there and why i brought it up ;)
(obviously less of an issue in Destroyers than BB's, but still an unnecessary pain in the arse)

Sooooo many draws in encounter mode.

Last game, they had a CV that was always going to be camping. We had no CV. My whole team just camped (aka stayed together defending the cap) for 10 minutes. We defeated the first 5 or 6 ships that came into view would have won easily.

Not surprisingly it was a draw with just their carrier left.

This game has still got huge flaws.

Ergo, your team waited for so long around your own cap point and ran out of time to do either, cap the enemy point or hunt the carrier.

You deserved to draw then didn't you :P

I agree the draw was deserved. But the team that pushed, pushed in dribs and drabs and got nom-nomed by all the ships 'camping'. I was bottom tier in my Cleveland so wasn't about to go all yolo. I'd have looked like Swiss cheese far too quickly.

But I am concerned that the game will encourage camping and repeated draws in that game mode.

I've just put my post up on the WoWs forums. I'm pulling the plug on the game. Great game, but just zero apparent attempts at teamwork and communication.
For a game that really needs teamwork, the playerbase are strangely ignorant.

Yep and whats worse is at present the current playerbase is the best it will ever be as the majority of people playing now have paid to do so and are passionate about the product. Once the financial commitment barrier is lifted and all the free 2 play crowd jump in things will only deteriorate.

(edit). Lol I see your topic has turned into a flame war on the forums. Nice community spirit!

Imo It would help a lot if you could use voice chat in game, i think this would help as people could give advice and maybe someone would lead everyone else. I have quite enjoyed the game so far, but it is beta dont forget

You'd just get spammed in Polish, turn it off and then never use it again.

It does rely hugely on teamwork.

We lost the other day in the most frustrating way. We were 7 v 2 ships up. 5 of our team had gone chasing down the carrier. Leaving me in my badly damaged cruiser and a team mate in a badly damaged battle ship trying to protect the caps.

It was a map with 5 caps. They had 1 (v.well driven) destroyer just capping and taking pot shots at us from outside spotting range. We never even saw him. Eventually he got me and we lost on cap points.

The 5 ships chasing the carrier killed it and were then to far away to re-cap. The enemy were laughing at them in chat which promoted much amusing rage.

Focus fire, spotting, working together it will never happen.

Agreed, being effective in WoWs is absolutely dependant upon teamwork. Any group actually managing to coordinate at all should hammer most enemies.

What I did think was interesting (that I mentioned in the flame war on the WoWs forum) was that WG have made ZERO reference to WoWs being a team game. They did in WOT, it's in the game notes. There's nothing of the kind in WoWs.
Maybe they already know that the game will just turn into 15 individuals vs 15 individuals, possibly mixing in the odd division.

Such a shame, as I think the game mechanics have such promise. Sure, needs a little polishing and a new MM, but otherwise, looks ace and has mega potential.

So, back to WOT...

Now, how do I run up 1,000,000 credits to buy an M103...

I don't disagree with you that it needs more teamwork, and really hope they implement better tools to assist with it before open beta.

I don't understand the comparison to WoT though, aside from people joining games in a platoon (which you can do currently in WoWs) I don't really see communication or teamwork in random WoT games, its just lemming trains and generally the only time anyone uses chat is to shout abuse at people.

Obviously there is the whole clan wars thing but I'd always assumed this would be added to WoWs sometime post release anyway as it can't be a priority right now when they need to get the basic game functioning properly to begin with.

I think we just need to hope they've learnt their lesson from World of Warplanes and will keep this one in testing long enough to get it right, mechanics and ships still need work and more functionality needs to be added before this is ready. I still enjoy it though and will keep playing.

I wish they'd sort it so that you make the Alt key stay on.

You either have to change the key binding every damn time you load the game (it doesn't remember your changes) or press Ctrl + Alt + Number Pad Enter - then Esc every single game to get it stay on. All to get a usable display that actually tells you what the ships are.

If I'm getting the latest news coming out of WoWS correct, it looks like it might be going into open beta on Friday with the implementation of patch 0.4.0 considering some of the opening text in the notes for patch 0.4.0 matches some of the opening text of the news about the move into open beta.

yep 0.4.0 is out. just had a few games lots of arkansas betas roaming around, picked up the warspite and atlanta from premium kinda tempted by the new IJN cruiser premium.

They've done the final wipe but it isn't open beta yet as only people who were in alpha/closed beta can play atm. I'd expect open beta to start properly early next week but nothing has been announced.

My prayers seem to have been answered with this new patch.

Really enjoying this - decided that I'm now going to go up the Jap DD lines :)

Then after this the Jap cruiser.

though if you check the games files Ze Germans are coming ;)

Well I won't be enjoying this (even though I was a few days out for it going into open beta) since I read the minimum requirements and found that neither my laptop or desktop will be able to run it in their current configurations mainly because of RAM requirements for both main and GPU plus the fact that it appears to only run on 64-bit operating systems.

Seriously wargaming, it's the same game engine as WoT but you put all the lower end users out of the running by bumping up the requirements and locking it to 64-bit operating systems.

I hadn't realised it was locked to 64-bit, I guess that might hurt them a bit, but as for requirements my missus was playing it on a 4gb ram, non gaming integrated graphics laptop yesterday with 40fps.

Jap DD are so satisfying. I've had a lot of fun with Cruisers and Battleships too but nothing comes close to the satisfaction of sneaking up on a Battleship, launching torps, getting out and watching him shatter like glass without ever even being spotted :D

Here's a stealthy game I had a few days ago as an example
