They aree timed fuse AP so its not as bad as you think. It pena at a higher deflection angle and if it cant pen it does HE style damage meaning a lot less shots bounce for nothing.

Brits are hard to play but play them right and my god they are good. Had a few krakens in my fiji. Ive sunk many cruisers and many battleships with ease
 
I have moved on to Tier V, a Konig. Happy with general performance, Im still learning, but typical exp earned is in the region of 1,000-1,800.

When playing the higher tiers do you simply get more experience generally? I see a lot of Youtube videos with 6-12k experience won but these are usually for much higher tiers.

I don't have a premium account.
 
Premium will give you an extra 50% xp and credits, and is not really needed at lower tiers, but imo tier 6+ premium is a big help.
You sound like you are doing good. Imo 1k plus base xp is a good game

I am on most evenings but I regularly play in a division
 
After t7 to t8 you will need a premium account or regular play with a premium ship.

The prices are outrageous lol

I just play t1 to t6
With cross referenced friends invites everyone gets an Arizona which is a moderately fin t5 usbb.

T6 is easy to get now and have a ton of camos signals and flags. Prolly enough until you get bored

T4 is a great place to play as a us DD or german bb.

All nations have a frankly op ship for its tier.

Playing in height tiers I have t8 destroyer and cruiser and both can be anihilated so fast it's simply not fun to play against t10s

T4 or t7 are my preferred fun spots.

How many people from OcUK are actively playing this ?

It would be nice to get some divisions together some time.

Anybody got any words of wisdom on the Mahan as I'm only about 5k xp away from it.
 
I've been getting back in recently since I now have a computer that doesn't tank in a close quarters firefight (and would do a lot better once I get an actual graphics card in it), but I've only just gotten to tier 6 on the Japanese line (which is what I'm focusing on) and I currently play in the twilight hours.

On virtually every evening and the majority of all weekend, if anybody wants to DIV up, been playing for over a year, play mostly around the high tiers, but im flexible, would love to try it in a proper div and not a random buch of clown shoes!
 
Just got my Mahan - not prepared to spend gold on training Captain or free xp on upgrades. So decided to use a couple of signals and camos that I've been awarded/given to boost progress.

2nd ever game and a doozy. Domination match. Me and a low health Hipper left 'vs' 4 enemy ships - we had the points advantage and all 3 caps. By not firing (just torps) I managed to keep them spotted whilst the Hipper put fire in over hills. We won with 1000 points just as they got to 900. Good intelligent team play from the Hipper with a bit of fire discipline from me won the day :-)

Nice match to have had the signals/camo flying as well :-)

I'm fairly certain I threw away a solo warrior last night. 1v5 but we had two capture points and ahead on points with 2 minutes to go.

I managed to get too close to a Bismark and died in the last 90 seconds. I was in a Kiev so I could have just kited and put fire into B which they were trying to cap.

Idiot. I had smoke available as well.
 
Frustrating. We've all done similar things. I threw away a kolobanov in WoT once by trying to get a pools medal. I got shotgunned by a lucky short from arty.

You just have to remember is a game. Hard sometimes...
 
Still the only game I play regular.
I play enough to earn 2 loot crates.
90mins usually +1 shout from the gf to come to bed.

It's going to be DD hell soon as german line comes out. T1-4 should be a slaughter for US players but after that they also get a More CL branch 150mm guns... Op !!!
 
Just started playing this, took me about 10 games before I realised I was playing against bots :)

Not going to pay any premium, so whats the best route for ship upgrades?

Gave it a go a while back, just re-installing to give it another try.

Regular player of WoT, but looking for something different and just can't seem to find it at present.

Any tips/advice for a newbie most welcome!!!

In game name will be same as my WoT - WaveRuler (Not that I'll be ruling over any waves any time soon :D ) Feel free to give me an add.
 
I'd say the most important thing at low tiers is to not get spotted first !

Also learn to angle - as your armour gets better keeping your hull angled to the enemy guns works better and better - don't show a broadside to the enemy if you can help it.

Lastly learn when to use HE and when to use AP (just like WoT !) and look at how to hit citadels for teh max damage.
