Ole's sacked, who next?

It just has not panned out for him just yet.
And that's kind of the point I was making. I've not said Sancho (or DVB) isn't a good player but there's a difference between being a good player and a good signing. Sanchez was a good player, Di Maria was a good player but neither were good signings and I could list 1000 examples of good players being poor signings for every club in the League.

Sancho, as yet, hasn't done anything to justify his £70m price tag and I don't think anybody could say Donny has been a good signing for Utd. Whoever is at fault, Donny has so far been a massive waste of money for Utd.

Sancho just to early to say he's not been great, but has anyone really shone this season ?

I will reserve my judgement

Saying that we should have probably not signed him because at the time we were playing 3 up front and greenwood / rash and Dan James covered the right fairly well.

The obvious hole that was not addressed was cm / DM

Ronaldo is the main reason Sancho hasn't had much of a look in so far. Sancho was bought before we thought about/bought Ronaldo and his arrival threw everything out.

Hes the wrong type of player for Oles football as well but without Ronaldo he would have got a lot more time as part of a fluid front 3.

Isn't sancho not playing because he's been awful?

Cr7 plays up front.

Rashfords been injured.

James sold

= pogba/ Greenwood for 2 wide positions plus sancho.

The fact is sancho has been unable to do better than Greenwood and or rashford since he came back from long injury.

You really don't understand team balance, synergy or formations do you. CR plays in a very specific way and in very specific places on the pitch. Watch him play vs someone like Cavani. They are completely different strikers. One works their socks of to be available and dynamic and the other walks around until he feels the time is right to pounce. One hassles the opposition defence and midfield and one couldn't care less.

The reason Greenwood is fine out on the right and Sancho isn't is in part because Greenwood wants to drive at a defence, beat a man and shoot. Hes quite happy trying to go past a man from a standing start. Sancho is not the same player. He wants to be running at players who are moving backwards, he wants players around him to play one-twos with and pull players out of position to make space.

If you watched the way he played with VdB at the weekend you would see a glimpse of how he plays.

I genuinely think that you could put peak Iniesta or Xavi in this United team and you would call them **** because they weren't beating players and making 60 yard passes or getting stuck in like Kante.

Ole had a somewhat dysfunctional system that kind of worked before Ronaldo got here and Ronaldo has just tipped it over the edge into completely dysfunctional. Hes always going to get you goals because he is a top player still but the team has to be built around him and have a manager that can compensate for him. Ole isn't even close to being able to do that.

I have no idea how Sancho would be doing if Ronaldo wasn't here. I would wager that Ole would probably still be in a job though. The club has so little ambition that we would have limped through this season hovering around 4th place while our form ebbs and flows, never being bad enough to get him sacked.

Basically, I will reserve judgement for Sancho and VdB and pretty much every other player until a new manager has been here for 3-6 months.

Sancho will be fine, the entire team have been garbage, foolish to pass judgement now.

We should be finding more out by tomorrow night with all the European games, various managers will be asked questions etc.

We need Pochettino now if it's possible, buy out his contract. It's not going to cost much compared to the vast sums of money we are throwing down the drain on people like Mata and Jones. PSG will get Zidane.

I honestly think Ten Hag is a bit of a pipe dream, he's used to working in an excellent and defined structure at Ajax. I just don't think the current board will bend that much and it would be awkward to get a deal done.

If we can't get anyone now, which isn't great IMO, Rangnick would be fine. I don't think Blanc is realistic, he's been away from the top level for many years and the moment he's mentioned, the press will bring up all the 'questionable' comments he's made.

I haven't seen anything mentioned about Blancs past comments but it feels a little like a setup at the moment. :p

Like they are just waiting for it to happen and they already have all the stories ready to go and they are just setting their trap.

You would think that in todays hypersensitive world that United would do their due diligence but this is United so.... who knows.

Still feel like there is a 50:50 chance that Carrick will win a few games and the club will start to think "what if Ole wasn't the chosen one? What if it was Carrick all this time"

What’s going to infuriate me is if they wait to pinch Poch until the summer for the sake of saving a few (albeit million) quid. The rumours that he’s open to a move now means they should just get on with and finally get him in.
Obviously that would be the sensible move, so it’s highly unlikely they will do that. :(
And even if they do, they’ll insist on keeping McKenna, Carrick and Phelan or something equally ridiculous.

My levels of faith are not very high…

I am terrified of the prospect of Carrick being manager for more than a couple of weeks, however, we must remember:
  • He's not even a manager
  • The players have already said the coaching staff are part of the problem
  • The season is still fairly young with a lot to play for, top 4 is essential and more than attainable
  • He's just extremely dull, isn't he?
There have been multiple reports that Jorge Mendes has been involved and Ronaldo isn't happy, no way they'll sit by and let Carrick run things. I seriously hope not, anyway.

I've read a few reports that Woodward wanted to remove Phelan too, but didn't due to a fan backlash. Not sure how true it is, but it seems an idiotic decision if that's the sole reason.

Nothing suggests that money is what is stopping them moving now.

Luckhurst at the MEN is reporting it's £10m to get him now. That's nothing really in the current context of football. Pennies.

I think it can happen, reports from France indicate PSG will go for Zidane and Poch is prepared to leave mid-season.

Calling for the heads of individual backroom members is dumb, nobody at a fan level knows who is responsible for what and who is or isn't doing their job. This decision has to be made by the incoming manager or Woodward, so the incoming manager.

Yes, there's some logic to keeping them for now. The new manager may want some of them, and until one is in place, people need to run training etc.
