Oscar Pistorius thread

He said he broke the door down with a cricket bat, didn't kick it down.

"I screamed at the intruder

because I did not have my legs on I felt vulnerable. I fired shots through the bathroom door and told Reeva to call police.

I walked back to the bed and realised Reeva was not in bed. Its then it dawned on me it could be her in there.

I kicked the door open."

So he shoots through the door.

Realises its probably his gf behind the door.

What would you suggest he should have done to get to his gf behind the locked door.

He's a ****ing athlete, I'm sure he can give it a good enough bang to get through, if he can do it with his plastic legs why can't he do it with his muscular, athletic arms?

I kicked the door open. Called paramedics and complex security. I tried to carry her down stairs for help

I just copied this from a post above... now, surely that contradicts itself entirely.

Felt vulnerable because I didn't have my legs on... fired shots... walked back to the bed and then kicked the door open.... bar stating the obvious I have a.....

Couple of questions really from me on that

1 - Why did he have to kick the door open? Why not just open it?
2 - Carrying on from the above, why did this woman lock the bathroom door? What need would there be? Lets be honest, they are sharing a bed... have an en suite it seems and yet she feels the need in the middle of the night to lock the toilet door to have a wee?

Anyone in a relationship and I mean a high percentage probably just go to toilet in front of each other, id find it rare for anyone to lock the door especially in the middle of the night.... so why did she lock it? Why did he have to kick the door in? Because she was in fear....

It sounds like the prosecution are are chasing a trumped up charge, why not go for a lower charge that is more likely to succeed? Who premeditates a murder by shooting someone through a bathroom door?

Without commenting on the case here it's possible in British law to be guilty of murder when discharging a firearm through a locked door so it's perfectly possible that South African law (based heavily on British law) remains similar. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the case but essentially the person took so little care when firing through the door that they could not reasonably know if there was someone on the other side to injure hence it met the test of mens rea.

Sky News said he used the cricket bat so maybe it was both.

Regardless, what's the importance of how he opened the door?

I would not find it particularly unusual if she automatically locked the door when going to the toilet.

I just don't see why she would lock the door... middle of the night, bog, her and him only..... she gets up, without him noticing (despite being awake) and then he instantly starts firing blindly into the toilet?

Anyone with an ounce of sense who is not of the mind to kill someone would:

a) Call the police as they have the upperhand ie an intruder locked in a room with 1 exit to him
b) He has a gun, just get into a position that he can fire IF a black man comes out of the bathroom with a bag of gold

I would, given that its the middle of the night... she locked that door as a half man, half robot monster was after blood that night.

I often lock the bathroom door, mostly out of habit. It's not at all strange.

It is strange.

I know some men suffer from shy bladder/penis envy syndrome so go in cubicles for privacy.. but at home and being female, no chance does she lock the door, middle of the night.

I find NOT locking the door strange, unless the thought of being walked in on when you're taking a dump turns you on or something.

I neither want to walk in on or be walked in on when I'm/partner is struggling with a log monster.

I must be strange then as, like I said, I often lock the door through habit when at home. And my wife must be strange as well since she also locks the door. Unless she thinks I'm a homicidal maniac of course. Hmmm

Were his exact words he "screamed" at the supposed intruder in the bathroom? That'll be to account for the neighbours hearing screams then, had to get that base covered. Even though surely in that situation would you really give the intruder any chance to react to you finding them? If he did shout of scream something he certainly can't have waited for any kind of response before firing, as if she was in there she would have answered him. I guess the forensics will show if she was pressed up against the door when he shot, rather than sat on the toilet or something.

Why does it have to be to do with being turned on, by not locking the door?

I know who is in my toilet... if I don't, id ask if needs be... if no one replied I wouldn't pull out a shotgun and unload a clip into the room and then go... oh damn the Mrs was in there.

Also was she taking a dump at the time? Do we know this for a fact?

Odds are IF she was in there for toilet purposes it was a quick pee... in, sit, pee, wipe, wash, out.... no need for locking in that scenario.

The door was locked for a reason... fear. Not toilet reasons, but fear of life reasons.

Good point, where are the bullet holes.... didn't she get a head shot? If so, high up... she was standing, middle possible bog... lower middle, led up against door?

He has to go down.
