Oscar Pistorius thread

Which is wrong. Regardless of who the victim was, he should be charged with murder as there was intent to do so when firing blindly through the door into the toilet. The prosecution should have been more thorough before bringing the charges against him it seems.

Innocent until proven guilty.

If he genuinely thought there was an intruder in his house and shot them through a door then this is a terrible and unforseen tragedy. All this talk about being charged with murder simply for "shooting through a door" is poppycock. If you illegally enter someone's house in a country where it is legal to own guns you should expect to be shot if discovered.

Steenkamp lost her life and that is a very sad and wasteful thing, regardless of how it happened.

Kind of makes me think of the "trial by ordeal" kind of situation.
If it WAS a complete accident, and he has killed the love of his life, how could he live with himself? I couldn't. I'd take my own life.
If he did murder her, then his life is pretty much forfeit anyway (As long as he's sentenced appropriately).
Either way, you'd expect him to die or die/rot in prison.

Pistorius allegedly failed to hang up the phone properly after calling on site security, and could be heard weeping. It's a huge tragedy for both involved really.

Hmm, no evidence that legs were attached before shooting, and the police team failed to find a bullet that was found by Pistorious' Lawyers forensic expert later - seems like police team was relatively weak.

The detective is being picked apart piece by piece. This is only going one way. Presumably he'll be retried for manslaughter? Not sure what happens if he's found not-guilty of premeditated murder, can he then be sentenced to a lesser charge, or does he need to be retried?

Very weak, They knew exactly how many shots were fired so I wonder how they could miss one.

He could be - and possibly is - a right nasty piece of work. He's getting sympathy (when he shouldn't be getting any) purely because of who he is and his disability. It's ridiculous.

Everything I've heard so far suggests to me that he's lying, the events indicate that as well. That could have course be wrong, but I don't think it is.

I still just can't get around the fact that he didn't properly check it wasn't her before unloading a barrage of bullets through his toilet door. Nothing can justify that.

So far I've heard neither that could swing it either way. The defence lawyer did a good job of putting forward his case, pointing out there is no evidence to prove Pistorius' account isn't true. At the moment, the prosecution is still going on hear say it seems, and what 'should' have happened. They don't seem to have given any concrete evidence for their side of things.

There are some oddities in Pistorius' occurrence of events, but at the moment nothing has been proven either way.

I'm therefore presuming he's innocent until proven guilty.

Unfortunately, if the defence can create a convincing enough story regarding their side of events, that can not be disproved, I can't see why he should be found guilty. We may never know whether he did it or not, but ultimately, in my eyes, that's the unfortunate truth. But, if it can't be disproved, we can't presume he's guilty.

Multiple witness's have made statements that they heard arguing around the time of the shooting, and yes a screaming/heated argument would easily travel 600m in the dead of the night. You could reasonably dismiss a single witness making an honest mistake but multiple individuals??? I'm not buying it!!

We haven't actually got a distance. It's now been said it's more like 300m. Frankly, until they do some actual measurements we won't know.

That said, I'm not sure I'd hear something 600m away in the dead of the night. Especially if I had windows and stuff closed in my house and was asleep. 300m I might, 600 is further than most people think though.

Pretty much what i am thinking as well.

So I guess all the witness's were hearing things at roughly the same time??
Nonsense, Oscar is a cold blooded murderer and I sure hope his expensive lawyers aren't able to get him off!!
How do lawyers like this sleep at night and look themselves in the mirror is what I want to know?? (What do they care, they are getting paid silly money to help get a murderer off:mad:)
