Indeed - while not a "usual" event there are a number of documented events of religious minorities unloading firearms at each other in those kind of areas in France over the last 2-3 years which seems to be on the increase (hit up somewhere like ******** and you'll find half a dozen videos).
When it's being done widespread in the name of Islam it becomes a Muslim thing. It's also not entirely unfair when the evidence is there that there is a lot of violence culminating around Islam at the moment, after all it's not like we're experiencing attacks one after the other from Jews, Hindus, Sikhs or Christians now is it?
Not all Muslims are terrorists but most terrorists are Muslim..
When they can slaughter people on a beach with essentially no retaliation or repercussions why not go again and again and again, getting evermore cocky and audacious.

Assuming this is due to Muslim extremists ...
Unfortunately religion is a guide to thoughts and behaviour, it is not akin to race or sex which does not define a person in the same manner. The more dedicated people become to their religion the less tolerant they become of contrary thoughts and behaviour.
Being a practising Muslim does not mean you necessarily support extreme intolerance and violence in furtherance of your religious views however you are part of a larger ideology that, like all religions, tempts you to immerse yourself completely and become intolerant. People are right to be concerned about religious extremists and those that show any sympathy at all for attacks like this or Hebdo.
You say Muslims will suffer violent prejudice, can you list the number of Muslims murdered in France by French extremists and compare that to French citizens murdered by Muslim extremists?
What I am suggesting is that Muslim extremism in particular is a menace to the world and Western society and that as it is a religion, rather than a political movement, there must not be any tolerance for supporters of it to any degree.
Or maybe because they are terrified of being killed like anyone else?
They could very easily have been victims of what appears to be indiscriminate murder from fanatical nut jobs.
Also you do realize that Muslims are are hundreds of times more likely to be killed by radicalized religious psychopaths than any European is
They hate these scum bags like everyone else and have far more rational reasoning to boot.
My post wan't meant in a negative way whatsoever.
I don't blame anyone for trying to distance themselves.

Actually, I doubt there will be any reaction. Westerns are so paralysed by political correctness and apathy that we'll not even defend our nations. Not yet at least.
Not that I am in favour of attacking innocent people of course. But it would be good to see the French mobilise their society to expunge Islamism (political Islam) from their streets.

Yup I was on Sky news and just switched to BBC and heard that too. Not good.
I wonder how many of those who carried out the attacks were part of the wave of 'refugees' streaming in Syria, etc?

Sorry but I dont get how are they getting the semi automatic guns into France i know they get smuggled in but surely they have to go through somewhere that not being checked properly?
I feared an attack like this would come at some stage i was expecting them to hit Paris tourist spots

I don't think security can be tight enough to stop this kind of thing in Paris. Even with armed police on every corner, a bunch of coordinated terrorists with AK47s will eat through them.
This kind of thing is just too expensive to avoid. The police with their holstered pistols and sirens merely give people a false sense of security.

Sorry but no. It is related to extremists who may call themselves Muslims. But it's nothing more than radicalised version. It is not Islam.
IS are terrorists who are calling themselves "pure" Muslims who are setting up a caliphate and want to set up a new Muslim state.
They are atypical to the rest of the Muslims in the world. They are a minority.
What I fear more than most is the potential increase in hate crime. Also the living hell that the rest of the Muslims are likely to have to go through.
Don't mistake this for me being soft towards the criminals I'm disgusted and shocked and saddened by it and hope that justice is served. But not at the detriment of a group of people who have nothing to do with this just because they share a religion in name only.
