PC-7 'real-life' shot please

If you use 12V LEDs, wont they just be really dull? or not even light up?

You could always get some white LEDS (usually more expensive than red/green/blue) and put a purple plastic filter between the LED and the clear plastic thing?

Yeah, I was thinking the wrong way round. It may try to draw 12v, but wont be able to, as it's only allowed 5v, so it'll be dim, if lit.

The filter is a good idea, it's hard to get decent white LEDs though, most are rectangular.

Do you have a local cheap-o shop? you can usually buy cheap LED torches with white LEDs, i have one that cost £2 and it has 4 bright white LEDs (5mm) and runs on 3xAA's. So 4.5V, can probably run at 5V.
Possibly the cheapest option.

edit: Although, the legs may not be long enough.

So long as you have something to solder on, that's all that matters. Personally I'm too lazy to do filters etc. so I just spend that little bit more and get some of the colours I want (Although mine were/are available)...still need to sort something out about the colour bleed though.

Very tempted to change to this from a Akasa Eclipse 62 as I fancy a change plus the side cooler for the gfx with a window is ace :)
How hard is it to fit the big cpu coolers due to the motherboard tray not being removable e.g the Noctua etc which use backplates and need to be screwed in?
Thats the only thing stopping me from getting one at the moment. Cheers

this is probably a stupid question but the one off ocuk does come with an 80mm and a 120mm right? considering replacing the rubbish generic case my pc is in atm :) not sure what one ill get yet - leaning towards silver atm.

Just a few questions that I would like answered if possible please on my Lian Li PC7 Plus case.....

01. What speed do these 120mm Lian Li fans run at?

02. I have a q6600 in my case and the temp is quite high even though I have a Thermalrite 120 Ultra Extreme and a Scythe S-Flex 1600rpm is this because the airflow from the internal Lian Li fans arn't very good??

03. Where can I purchase the Lian Li BS-02 or BS-03 side panel fan that screws to the back of the case so it sucks air out from the gfx card?

04. Does it have any benefit from having a 80mm in the roof of the case? And if it is, is it better to be blowing in or sucking out?

05. I see that some people are turning the exhaust fan around so that it blows cold air into the case from the back onto the cpu is this better than venting out the case? I was thinking if you had the top 80mm fan venting hot air out and the front and back venting in to the centre of the case would that be better as you are feeding cold air from all directions?

06. Can anyone tell me the best way if none of the above are any good how to get some lower temps apart from watercooling?

Thanks Guys... Look forward to hearing your responses..

  1. medium rpm (cant remember the exact number), if you are hunting for silence, get a 5/7v resistor as they are loud at 12v but they do push a very good amount of air.
  2. Quads are very hot, what are your idle/load temps at what speeds and voltages?
  3. cant say, as it would break the forum rules. Google is a good tool.
  4. sucking out as heat rises, made a 2c case temp difference for me with a low rpm fan in place. However it added too much noise for my liking and as i was chasing silence it had to go.
  5. depends, try it and see how it goes for you, might not go down well though.
  6. cables. usual things like, thermal paste and lapping as well.

Does the hard drive mounts come with rubber thingies to absorb some of the vibration?
Mine didn't (silver) from OCUK a couple of weeks ago.

But the PC-7+ SE may come with them, it looks like that from that german website review.

Here's mine:

E6600, BFG8800GTX, Gigabyte P35-DS4, 500GB WD5000AAKS, 2x1GB Geil Ultra 6400, Corsair HX620w, Scythe Ninja + Rev. B, Samsung SH-S203/BEBN, Sony floppy!

could do with a bit of a cable cleanup, those corsair modular cables are easy to work with :)

I think it's pretty neat... compared to my old PC anyway.

Did a bit of a cable cleanup last night, only 10 mins worth though.

I'll work on it when I can be bothered :p

It also looks a little messier because you can see under the PSU cover thingy. I just need to hide that SATA cable running up the middle & tuck away those 2 gray 1394 and USB wires at the bottom.

Everyone else has artistic 'hide your wires' photos with some cables cheatingly unplugged :p

Sorry i know nothing about case modding. I like those green tube things in there, are they hiding wires ? how do you do that ?

yeah as said above thats my watercooling :)

Gone for a bit of a change recently, got a lian-li ex-33 so moved hdd's into that and put my pump at the bottom so can use the top inlet. Gone for a bit of blue aswell. Looks much better now imo.

my camera is crap :(

Thinking of adding a second loop for gpu at some point in the near future

I'm liking that, I also prefer that HDD rack over the other one someone has...the slotty one.
The purpleyness looks a bit wierd, but it is a cool setup.

I read the 2nd loop thing, thought you meant put the GPU in a loop, then I realised you wanted 2 loops, CPU and GPU. :)

Thanks :) yeah looks better that other hdd rack u can get, mine matches the front fan intake :)

The purple is just from the uv cathodes, doesnt show up as being so purple in the flesh, just in the pics. Yeah 2 seperate loops for gpu and cpu, will get it done when i have a bit of cash spare, hopefully wont be long off
