Peaky Blinders -New BBC series, 1919 Brummie Gangsters

Not the greatest finale episode, shame about Alfie but he knew he wasn't going to be himself for much longer, wouldn't have surprised me if it was a blank in his gun.

This sums up s5 that will arrive in 2019:

There was a little too much double bluff for my liking in this season but it was still brilliant. I thought the Italians were actually not that interesting and a bit one dimensional. I loved the ending though, the next season should put things back on track. This season was more of a side story IMO.

Really enjoyed this season, over way too quickly. Still can't beat the first two seasons though.

I hope the Alfie scene was done for viewer confusion (as with the Arthur scene earlier) would be good to see him back in S5.

Good series, but the Italian mafia could have had a bit more of an edge... still, to have Adrien Brody as the arch nemesis was a very welcome surprise. I was extremely sad to see Alfie go though, he was my favourite character and I held some hope that he would stand firm and help Tommy against the Italians. Sadly, he stayed true to character. Still, I consider it one of Tom Hardy's best roles.

WTF? He betrayed Tommy and visibly had his head blown off, in what fantasy land do you see him coming back for Season 5? :p

I think that he has a chance.......

We have learned not to expected the expected in this show, great series - like the previous

I don't think this was the strongest series in all honesty.
What was it people liked about Alfie exactly ?
he stabbed tommy in the back for a 2nd time!

I was expecting more of a war with the Italians if I am honest, I like the way that Tommy outsmarted them, but like others have said the feud between the 2 families just felt a bit meh.

Seriously? He was a great and uniquely colourful character, excellently portrayed by Hardy, with an amazing script and electrifying presence.

I agree it lacked some impact, but altogether it was still a good season. I admit that I found Pollys character extremely tiresome and annoying in this series.

I guess he is effectively the bad guy though, and we are supposed to dislike the bad guy.

Binged watched all 4 seasons in the last week, Alfie was a mountain of a character who could be spun off

Series 1,2 and some of 3 great, felt 4 was so full of filler, episodes too long and massive logic gaps, will watch S5 but felt S4 overall was sub par

Alfie was awesome, really hope we see him in season 5 although i doubt it. It looked like the shot went through his cheek to me. Also sad that Tommy didn't look after his dog :(.

It would be amazing if they got Stephen Graham on board to play Al Capone if they decide to go down that route with S5.

Just binged watched all the seasons over the past month. Generally the show is well up there with the best of them (both UK and USA), My season breakdown:

S1: Bit slow, bit too traditional BBC drama, Grace is annoying and a bit pointless, banter between Tommy and Campbell is what cuts this show above the rest here.
S2: Decent plot, characters are given more room to breath - Michael's introduction and more screen time for John are stand outs. and of course Alfie and May are well thought out characters with charisma. Decent finale, Though again Grace coming back is stupid writing.
S3: I dont get the hate to be honest, I actually feel this was the strongest season out of all 4. The plot isn't that difficult to grasp, Father Hughes is incredible as the season villain, and the Russian characters bring a different kind of crazy to the show. This season has by far the most amount of stand out scenes across the entire show with some incredible acting by Cillian.
S4: Starts off well, but ends in a farce. The finale is utter tripe and the writing predictable. Polly and Thomas seem to always know whats going on and then it has to be explained to the audience in a kind of 'gotcha' moment. Its incredibly lazy writing. Generally the female characters are increasingly poorly written with seemingly strong leads turned to just background extras.

All being said, solid show but often let down by poor plot points, and weak writing.
