I've tended to agree with the idea that a disaster event happened on earth that wiped most people out. But a few escaped and went somewhere else. So their creative evolution would be in front of us.
I had to look up about the Fermi Paradox. An interesting concept.
I think the question becomes about evidence. There might be evidence but because there is a generally accepted standard for evidence i.e. it has to be corroborated in some way means that if I saw an 'alien' spacecraft tonight and I hadn't recorded it and nobody else happened to be looking in that direction, then it wouldn't be considered evidence, even though it happened.

If man was so clever that they had invented spacecraft to escape Earth and live somewhere else we would have found evidence on Earth by now.
We can find dinosaurs every few minutes so finding technology would also be rife.
Not necessarily. Would the human mind be able to cope with knowing its own future? If they had such technology it is also conceivable that they would be able to conceal it.
That's not really a good comparison - one is millions of years in the past, one is technology from the future, the extent of which goes beyond our imagination and knowledge. It could be both visually-cloaked and tactility-cloaked.

You're correct. I was talking about the future because if a disaster happened here then I'd assume most technology would have been destroyed too... and if any technology managed to survive I doubt we'd hear about it as countries would hoard it to use it as their advantage.
One thing we know about human nature and our governments is they will grind every last value out of old technology before moving us forward.
Maybe we have. But the likes of me and you will be the last to know. A lot of money is made by making people pay for old technology. In other words its not so much its alien technology. It's how much it would impact world economics and the power and influence of those currently in charge.

Or maybe they're retiring to the secret wonderland and agree to playing a role in creating a false impression that the Secret World Order Government of Alien Time Travellers that secretly rules every country on Earth can't keep anything secret before faking their own death (and aging beforehand if necessary) and being whisked away to the secret wonderland using the magictech that the Secret World Order Government of Alien Time Travellers uses to make things utterly undetectable even to touch. With that magictech, hiding anything would be easy. They'd just walk right through you. Well, not walk. Obviously they wouldn't walk. Or maybe they just teleport. That would be easier.
It all makes perfect sense once you assume the existence of gods who can do anything and everything and who secretly rule Earth but keep that fact secret. So what do you think the Pentagon are going to release on June 1st?
Because from what I understand is they are going to be revealing incidents that are unexplained to the US government. Incidents were they have dismissed the possibility of enemy craft/activity.
So aliens have been visiting us for what - centuries by now and yet not one absolutely built proof piece of evidence has ever been presented - funnily enough just like big foot, the Lock Ness Monster etc etc
Even if you believe they have managed to break the laws of physics and developed a method of covering the immense distances involved - how do you explain the fact that having made all that effort - all they have done since arriving is mostly fly about - hide in the bushes and the occasional kidnap ?
I have no doubt there is/was other intelligent life out there somewhere - but the fact remains the distances involved for any kind of contact are just too mind bogglingly immense to be possible.

I very much doubt they have or will ever release any footage where they don't actually know what the object was. What they say to the public and what they know are two very different things.
