Just a thought. Do they vote again now they've drawn up a shortlist? If they do then every Utd player would have to vote for Gerrard, could you imagine Ratboy's face? :D

Good point, but it doesn't seem to work that way:
Every Spring, each member of the association votes for two players.[3] A shortlist of nominees is published in April and the winner of the award, along with the winners of the PFA's other annual awards, is announced at a gala event in London a few days later.[4]

So effectively the votes have already been cast, I think the only reason they have a 'shortlist' is to build up the hype and let them have a fancy gala ceremony with the 6 players in attendance.

Well if you ask me it's pretty stupid having a list of nominations if there is no second vote (since the winner must already be known by definition), the only explanation I can think of is that gala thingy.

The gala is usually held on the night of the 2nd FA Cup Semi so i doubt there will be another vote unless they've started it already.

Yep that's what I meant, it's only a few days after the nominations are announced - presumably they just do that to build up the hype and get idiots discussing it at 5 to midnight...

.
Gerrard = Winner

and Gerrard captained a team that couldnt scrape a win at home in 6 attempts - and over a run of games totalling god knows

and missed THE game of Liverpool's season (but I bet he will be magically ok to start the Arsenal game)

you can pick apart every player's season - doesnt mean they arent worthy

FYI VDS kept that run going on a number of occasions just as Vidic did - they are both as worth the winners medal as anything Gerrard has done

Premier League players are so ****ing stupid. The bookies seem pretty certain that Giggs has won the Player of the Year award

They initially had Gerrard and Vidic more or less joint favourites with everybody else big outsiders but i've just checked again and the only place taking bets has Giggs as big odds on favourite with Gerrard and Vidic drifting out to 5/1.

I guess players have a lot of respect for Giggs and feel he deserves it at least once in his career. I personally think Gerrard or Vidic should get it but it's a fitting (almost) end to a wonderful career for Giggs if he does get it.

However, Ferdinand was a cert for the England captaincy until a few hours before so I'd take it with a pinch of salt until it's confirmed.

There were several big bets placed on Ryan Giggs in and around the Manchester area apparently.

The award ceremony is tomorrow (Sky showing it on Monday) and as above, the bookies are still certain that Giggs has won it.

He's only start 12 Premiership games and been a sub in the last few minutes of many others. Will be an utter joke if he wins especially ahead of the likes of Vidic, Gerrard and others that weren't even nominated like Lampard.

yup, it was games like yesterday that showed Ronaldo and Rooney are by FAR and away the best players in that team. They were very good in the first half also and looked to be piling on the pressure before two defensive screwups gave Spurs the upperhand. Rooney actually looked very good making good runs ahead of Berb who also was very good the whole game. It was only Nani's/Fletchers/carricks turdness that stopped them scoring the first half.

Rio/Vidic I don't think have shown that class with massive screwups against liverpool, even yesterday being what dragged liverpool back into the race while Ronaldo/Rooney have been consistantly great all year.

Lampard/rooney not getting nominated is a joke, especially with Rafael(horrific again yesterday) and Giggs getting shouts with almost no appearances and both with a bunch of terrible performances thrown in, its nuts. Hell RVP deserves it over Giggs and his 12 starts, games like against Spurs where he ran the offence and had a hand in or scored every single goal. Giggs I'm not even sure has had a single game where he's been "that" good, he's not come close to putting in a performance as good as Rooney/Ronaldo yesterday.
