Philips 20" 200W6CS Widescreen TFT LCD

Mine's bad, but not bad enough to bother me when actually doing stuff.

It would only bother me if I enjoyed sitting in a dark room looking at photos of a black-board taken at midnight, in a tunnel with no lights ....in a coalmine.

Nope, so I think this monitor is fine for me :p

I was watching a DVD on it last night (Star Wars Ep 4, for the black space scenes) and it was great! :D

Can you guys recommend some tests I can run on the monitor when it arrives. I have thought of the following:

Backlight bleeding - I'll set to black back ground and look at it. I'll also play a couple of dark games - Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Doom3.

Dead/stuck pixel test - is there software that will check for this?

Anything else?

I got some money coming soon, and was thinking about getting this monitor.
I want it for gaming, browsing and coding on. Thing is I use my computer in the dark, and am wondering if the back-light bleed will be really obvious in the dark..

Are there any TFT panels that have no, or very low back-light bleed ? Or will I just have to get used to it ?

My current CRT's are getting blurry and starting to hurt my eyes when coding or reading lots of text..

It's an MVA I believe.

But it's worth the cost imo, it's absolutely fantastic. From the way you can use custom colours for each app, to the way they backlight the panel - it screams quality.

Yeah saw that, cheese Baddass.
The review kinda put me off a bit tho. Especially the ghosting mentioned.

I'll prolly go for this philips one.
Anyone know if Xerox are likely to fix their image retention issues on their 20" widescreen jobby due soon ?

My Phillips monitor just arrived by courier. I have set it up initially out of the box and just adjusted the resolution.

omg it's amazing.

I have gone from a 6 year old Samsung box standard 17" CRT to this and the image is fantastic.

I don't appear to have any dead/stuck pixels and the monitor appears to have arrived undamaged.

I will check further tonight after work. (If your wondering... I work from home)

I want a HEAVY games report please!

Try a variety fast-twitch games and give us your verdict. :D

Name a game. Quake 4 ran fine. I'm happy to do a large games report but at the end of the day it's all subjective anyway.

If someone tells me where I can upload a video I can take one. How useful that is I'm not sure!

If you did a large and detailed game report I think everyone would want to kiss you, and OCUK sales would go up if it was a positive one. :)
