Philips 20" 200W6CS Widescreen TFT LCD

Kasp ->to switch there are buttons to press rather than one button

you'd press <OK> menu button
then scroll down 4 (or up 3) to 'input selection' then press <OK>
up/down to the next input then lastly <OK> button to switch.

So thats about 7 or8 button presses on the monitor. Im probably making it sound more complicated than it is to do- and if you do that often you'd get used to it pretty quick i would think.

So basically in answer to your question yes : its fairly easy to do, but its not like there is a single button to switch inputs.

I tried it without anything connected to vga so i dont know if theres some kind of sensing circuit going on aswell. But Im not about to connect both up to my pc simultaneously Im afraid. :)

Thanks guys.

Thats what I wanted to hear. I'm glad there is control over which imput to use, rather than it being auto-sensed.

I was thinking I'd need to buy a KVM switch. I didn't realise that monitor offered this kind of fuctionality!

(Raymond, did you used to use the Zerogain/Groovehandle forums?)

Yeah, i think i did, long time ago. I was wayyyyyyyy into my HiFi then after my degree, spent lots of money on it. Still love my Seperates but since i went back to uni i never have the chance to listen to it unless i go back home. And then it's like a new experience everytime compared to my AWIA micro system, so it's kinda nice to get blown away by my own HiFi, its like first time everytime now.

Well,

I've jumped on the bandwagon.

I was a little concerned about claimed response time, but am willing to trust OCUK on this.

Good reports from owners really did it for me, and the fact that its a Phillips. Call me soft, but I still prefer the big name manufacturers. They also operate a good 'dead pixel' policy.

Hope to have it tomorrow - will let you all know how I get on.

Cheers.

Since dead pixel guarantees vary from monitor to monitor (even same-brand), do you know for certain what Philips will and won't accept as faulty?

There is a comparison of warranties at BeHardware, but the date of that article leads me to believe it's extremely out-of-date. I've already sent off emails to both NEC and Philips about their warranty, but maybe someone here already knows?

well ive just received mine today

mixed feelings. Thing is lovely to look at, and in a dual monitor, the stark contrast in colours from my 400:1 2 year old 17" TFT is amazing.

response is good as well, no smearing so OcUK have deffo got the new stock.

Now the bad parts. I receieved what i suspect to be a customer return. None of the cables were packaged or even cable tied. The box appeared to have a layer of sticky tape over the top of the existing seal and the polystyrene padding inside was broken.

and to boot its got backlight bleed.

ill try and get a pic but it wont be great as ive lent my digital camera to some1.

im in 2 minds as to whether to swap for the NEC. At least that way im guaranteed to get new stock as its a pre-order. But then again, it is £80 more ... and may well have backlight bleeding prolems. Only 1 person on here has got the screen.

Terrible. If you pay that much money you expect a pristine product. I thought OCUK had got over their bad patch as far as customer service went... with this in light I may buy my NEC elsewhere... :(

Ouch!

Is it even legal to do that?

I 'was' hoping for mine tomorrow. I wanted it delivered to work, but I had an e-mail waiting for me when I got home saying that it was too expensive to be delivered to an address that isn't the billing address.

Gonna have to give the OC people a call tomorrow and sort it out.

Whist I'm at it I'll tell them to make sure the send me new kit, and not a return!!!

After lots of thought I'm near deciding on the Philips 200W6CS over the Viewsonic VX2025 and NEC LCD20WGX2. It's a good price from OC this week and most users like it. I'm a bit put off by the gloss screen of the NEC and the Viewsonic is actually too tall for my PC housing.

However, I read one comment about poor greyscale performance on the Philips. This could be a matter of adjustment, but as I do a lot of photo processing it could be an irritation.

Does anyone have any comments on this please?

do you want to give me an image that would show the poor greyscale ?

ill put it up on screen and take a photo for you if you like.

personally i havent noticed any colour banding at all, the screen is great. And the colours look so vibrant. it picked up details in my desktop wallpaper i hadnt noticed before.

The comment was in a review and there were no pics. It just said that there was a tendency to too much white on the lighter grey bands.
It wasn't what I'd call an 'in depth' review, but I can't find any on this monitor.

haven't notice that at all, been using mine for a month now. The colours are fantastic, it is miles ahead of any TN panels i've came across, movies and photos have a new life into them it seems, everything seems much more vibrant and true to life.

Well,

Mines here now.

Like another poster on here, I'm pretty sure my box had been opened before! I had a strip of broken tape underneath the tape that was sticking the box together. The cables were also thrown in, like they had been taken out, then put back in. Didn't look factory packed at all.

However, the monitor itself looks in perfect shape from a quick viewing.

Its rigged up now and the first thing I can say is that there doesn't appread to be any dead pixels.

On backlight bleed: Its not something that I think would bother me too much, and something I never knew existed before I read these forums, so I'm not going to go hell bent on finding it. What I can say is that I can't see any at all so far from web browsing. I'll never watch a movie on this monitor, so its not something I'm going to try out, just so I can see if I get back light bleed. I will be using my 360 for gaming on this thing, so if I notice any on that, I will report back. But I will not be scrutinzing for it, like some seem to do.

The geo of the monitor was excellent out of the box. Not need for messing hith horizontal or vertical settings. However the brightness was off, and the colour was a bit bland. It still is after a brief play around, I will have to have another look at this I think.

A side from that, its pretty damn good. I'm not blown away though. I have a trusty Llyama 17" CRT before this and that was fine in terms of picture quality. I just wanted something in widescreen, and a little bigger.

For the money, I have to say its a cracking bargain.

Got mine today, and I have to say it's a heck of a screen. No dead pixels, no backlight issues and no probs with condition on delivery. Just tried COD2 & FEAR - no sign of ghosting. Can't fault it one bit, then again I've gone from 17 CRT to this so the difference is considerable.
