Philips 20" 200W6CS Widescreen TFT LCD

which acer ?

It seems the Belinea and the Philips _might_ use the same panel, so it would be a case of deciding upon other factors.

Hi there

We now sell all of these. :)

For value the Acer and Belinea models win it hand down, plus I gotta say having seen them both in the flesh they don't look like a value monitor at all, real good quality.

The Philips and BenQ are nice too, but are quite expensive in comparison for what seems little to no improvement over the Acer and Belinea models.

I agree with you that the BenQ (if it is in fact a TN panel) wouldn't be good value in comparison to say the Belinea. But if the Phillips is in fact (can you do a in store test compare to a Belinea ? or have a sample in the shop?) P-MVA panel, i see it being money worth spending over the cheaper Acer (which i presume is the TN panel? or S-IPS? but it doesn't have DVI anyway :().

The Philips is only £17 more than the Belinea :S ...that's about 5% more.
It is, in my opinion, a better brand and I would expect the build quality to be of a higher standard. I have seen the Belinea screen (in standby only) and it's doesn't scream quality

Found an online review on PCPro's site, it was done in October last year when it was the S-IPS panel, and it got 5/6 stars and on their A-List product (still is). Think i will order this tomorrow soon I get confirmation that Phillips now uses the P-MVA.

Seirrah - Have you contacted Phillips since about this?

I have send an email asking about the panel, but I've yet to have a response. I never expect to get a reply from any large company though :(

I'd order it now if I knew I was around when it would be delivered. I'm away soon so I don't want it taken away to some random depot. If it did get here before I left then I'd just be really frustrated about having to go away and not being able to play with it !

So many messages, it'd be better if OcUk had its own IRC channel :)

woooo!

i don't look at the forum for a couple of days and BANG suddenly there's another load of lovely 20" screens! ocuk, we love you!

one question, do any of these screens support HDCP? they must be getting prepared for it by now, surely?

anyway, i've read through the manual for the philips, and as usual there's no mention of the panel type used. however... and interestingly... in the glossary, there's an entry for IPS. there are no entries for MVA/PVA/TN. an indication? who knows!!!

the wallet is starting to twitch though!

The 20inch one, personally I think it looks a bit cheap in comparison with the belinea and the Philips. But of course if they all perform the same it comes down to how much I can get from selling my other computer :)

Just checked the Belinea specs a bit closer, it states it uses a Prem. MVA panel and has DVI, also a good compromise between looks and cost. I think it will probably be this one

There are two 20" Acer screens. But I think that one is a TN panel, and one is an S-IPS panel.
It is thought that the Philips screen might use the same P-PVA panel as the Belinea, but that is yet confirmed.

If anyone has the belinea, would you mind posting some decent res pics of it?
Only ones I can find are a pretty rubbish indication of how it looks. Thanks

I was talking about the £300 model, which uses a TN panel which apparently arent very good :)

backlight bleed is not a fair indication of panel type since it is based on build quality in relation to panel alignment with the CCFl backlighting. I dont think there would be any good way of telling whether you have a P-MVA or IPS edition, only trust you are safe in the knowledge that Philips and OcUK have confirmed it is an 8ms panel, and we are awaiting response as to which panel it uses

well, if it is indeed a s-ips, then it should have the blacklight bleeds in the corners. If it is P-MVA then it shouldn't, i'll tell you guys in 24 hours.

If OCUK ships today that is, been 3 hours since i ordered and still no shipping email.

im really glad that you have got a TFT in the end. You have had loads of patience to be honest. In the end I got a Dell 2405fpw, and thank goodness I did at £650 from OCUk considering what Dell have done now.

Hope it's everything you wanted when it turns up mate, let us know what you think of it :)

Si.
