Pico 4 out soon?

Ok so been having another play around tonight,
Decided to boot a fresh save up in HL aylx in virtual desktop,
First impressions were quite good, been a while since I played it on the quest 2,
But I do remember things in the distance not being very clear from the starting point of chaper one,
On this it was all very clear, VD is impressive,

But there is something going on that I just can't unsee and wondered if anyone else has this....
So there is a sweet spot on the pico, and for me if I look at things and pan my head from side to side, things seem to warp a little as they come into the sweet spot (barrel distortion?), including the menus in the pico home, so it's definitely something with the headset itself,
It's really bugging me,
Tried different IPD setting, repositioning the HMD etc, but it remains,
Anyone else with this problem,
If not think I may have to contact system active for advice as its really off putting and doesn't quite seem right

No nothing like that. Nothing changes shape or anything. The sweetspot is really big, obviously at extreme angles things go out of focus, but no kind of distortion.

Pancakes aren't as good as what we were told though. The biggest issue I have with them is the damn lens flare/bloom/halo effect around bright objects.

I did find a post with someone else seeing the same thing, he seems to think it's something that can be solved with a software update,

It reads.... "I'm seeing the warping near or at the center, like a very subtle 'hall of mirrors' effect. Almost looks like Pico haven't quite tuned out all of the optical distortions present in these new lenses. Assuming Pico is aware of this, it's something that can definitely be mitigated in software. In fact, all my issues with the P4 can be fixed in software, so it really depends on how good their engineers are"

Think I will email SA anyway and see what they say

what do you think about the controllers ?

to me (same as quest 2) in that i had put on a set of grips, the Pico 4, i find them difficult to hold

so all in all, once i get a VR Cover facial interface and a set of grips (if possible due to the tracking ring) it would be an upgrade for me over the Q2

Not quite as comfy to hold as the Q2 I don't think,
And was playing a game earlier and kept catching the screen shot button lol,
Lost tracking a few times also

Haven't noticed that myself. My Very order does have a single piece of dust inside the lens though. My Amazon order doesn't, but Very is 12 month interest free, wonder if I can send the Very Pico 4 back to Amazon?

You guys make it hard to decide if I should get the pico 4 now...

Shi you liking it? I think you like me care about comfort the most. I know when the quest 2 first came out there were software issues, but maybe these are worse?

Well, yes and no, soon as vr cover make the face gasket then I will say most definitely, but as it stands no, I can't stay it it long becuase of foam on my forehead, but it's Well balanced it's not heavy , sweet spot is a big plus, the q2 becuase its would move about it's out of focus a lot for me, most likely because I have such bad eye sight, so slightly off means I'm blind.

Not worried about battery life, I will get a small pack to put into the side or in my usb c splitter

Until vr cover it someone else brings out a replaceable face cover I'm not getting the pico.

Madness they promote fitness on it and supply a hard ABSORBANT face cover is stupid

argh!!

Just had an open top race in iracing and have to say the graphics are crap. Too pixelated, and this face cover is getting annoying now. Think in open top cars you see more of the road, and being all grey I guess the encoder struggles.

So decided to have a go on star wars squadrons....turns out that doesn't work in virtual desktop!!

This morning I was faffing about getting HDR working on non native resolutions because some games I like running ultrawide, that's a faff and even more so getting it working at 120.

Bought a steamdeck which won't play Fifa 23

I'm so close to giving up on PC gaming and going back to consoles.
