Pico 4 out soon?

Hmm... No DP no sale.
I can't be investing in another VR ecosystem.
I just want a high Res headset with a decent FOV and controllers that doesn't compress the image.

Compression works great for many games but detailed, 'noisy' games like Skyrim just don't compress well and look smeary and muddy.

My index looks sharper in fast moving and noisy games than the Quest 2 does, even with a link cable.

I doubt Pico's compression techniques will be anywhere near as good as the Quests.

What's the bandwidth comparison like between USB-C, Wifi 6 and DP?

Just checked:
DP = 17Gbps
Wifi 6 in theory is upto 9Gbps. In practice, if it's an external router that's connected to your PC via ethernet, then you're probably limited to 1Gbps. I see that the new Virgin media router 5 supports connection of upto 2.4Gbps. The plug in PCIE units also seem to support upto 2.4Gbps

USB C has several bandwidths, depending upon the USB version. They seem to run upto 10Gbps:

For ref, I've just tried checking the specs for the Quest 2 for reference purposes. Even the Meta site doesn't clarify what the USBC port standard is on the Quest 2.

Implies to me that Wifi6 is not going to cut it.

Guess we can hope that the Pico 4 will use USBC, v3.1 gen 2 (what a gobfull)

Here's a link to the specs on the Neo website:

Unfortunately, there's no clarification on there as to the USB standard.

Hi, you seem to know your stuff.

Could you clarify - the new virginmedia 5 hub says it supports wifi 6, so I assume it would run at up to full wifi 6 speeds? - I also see my motherboard supports wifi 6 but I assume I dont need to use this option if my router (virgin media hub 5 supports this?). I dont have my quest 2 to test anymore but I remember I did not notice much of a difference between cabled and non-cabled when running things but I assume cabled via usb-c is supposed to be better?

da da da daaaaaaaaaaa

I've pre-ordered one (I made sure to ask for one with a dead pixel)
ya I got the preorder screen open. I kind of want to wait for the info on the quest pro to decide but have a feeling they will price themselves out of my market. What you get the 128 or 256?

Quest pro is a business device, not a gaming one. It'll probably have decent specs anyway, but it's going to be a lot more expensive. I'm going to be waiting on the quest 3 specs to see if it's owrth upgrading from my q2.

I wanted to pre-order but the IPD adjustment looks like an issue for me. My IPD is 56 and that was OK with the Pico 3 as that had a 58 setting but the Pico 4 is 62-72.
Maybe another compromise to keep the cost down?

128gb mate

It's only going to be used for sim racing, star wars squadrons and flight sim

Can't grumble at £379 and the biggest thing for me was always the comfort

What about a decent (gaming grade) wifi6 pci-e card? One with a massive heatsink on it? I'm a bit stuck for cabling and power with adding an additional router.
Lots of vr guys out there said a router is better, since it's designed to send large amounts of signals out reliably, compared to a more typical wifi card that's more about receiving a good signal, and sending small amounts. The dongles Meta and Pico are planning to release are probably focused more on sending than receiving.

ok, worst case I can get a router and then an antenna extention cable to near where the headset will be
