Planetary Annihilation - Kickstarter Project

What will normal price be, don't get me wrong I think this game is revolutionary but based on the looks I would be waiting to get this in the sale for around £7

Probably £35 or something.

Looks are not everything in a game, and considering its an alpha the graphics are pretty good, but the game play is where it will excel

Surely in this day and age they should go hand in hand, C & C was 23 years ago and I still go back to that as games nowadays either have good graphics or good game play, rarely do you get both.

the current alpha is restricted in terms of detail as its hard locked at medium, also there is no resolution control at the moment due to the alpha nature of the engine.

The beta I am sure will look much better likely along the lines of the Kickstarter video I would expect.

$2,000,000 is still a pretty small budget for a game like this...

I'd much rather have awesome gameplay, variety and crisp good looking graphics, than meh gameplay, no variety and OTT photo-realistic graphics.

The alpha being locked to medium detail aside, you have to remember that one of the strengths of these games is that unlike the fixed camera you get in Lamecraft II, you have the option here to zoom in/out to the extreme, most of the screenshots are taken zoomed in more than you will be most of the time.

I actually like the GFX style they have gone with, reminds me of Team Fortress 2.

The Alpha is pretty limited and does not seem to have any balance... Still so far to go.

Mainly, it makes me want to install supcom.

The game has been steadily getting better since the first alpha release, beta should arrive later this month for those who have access.

Our current timeline is to see the beta released later this month. And as we’ve mentioned before, the beta has some cool mechanics and concepts that you haven’t experienced in the alpha. Like, say, interplanetary war. And colonization. And blowing up planets. So much stuff.

Looking forward to it. Seems they are progressing slowly :P

I don't think it's slowly, the kickstarter ended this time last year; 1 year to make a game this good is amazing.
I'm pretty sure they're working their bottoms off to get it ready for the November (?) release.

Trailer is great, but I cant help but feel those planets are far to small. Not sure if I like that :(

There is a full planet editor, you can change the planet size to crazy big and the number of moons, orbits etc.

You still end up with a game area far in excess of a normal square map.
