Planetary Annihilation - Kickstarter Project

Not tried this in months. I was very disappointed with this during "beta" so much of the game not finished of just bad. May dig it up. Price reduction is nice though.

Isn't that the point of a beta as its not finished yet?

Of course the point of a beta is to refine and add content and change things based on feedback. But frankly some of the recent early access /alpha betas have been more like pre alpha concept and seems more like milking the public than actual beta testing. (IMO)

In the case of planetary annihilation I just think they promised so much and failed to deliver on there own goals as and when they stated they would.

I am sure eventually they will add the content and functionality they promised, but I think if it was not attached by name to total annihilation I would not of got the attention it has.

They haven't failed on any of their promises.
In fact they've come along SO far since the first alpha release, The way they've developed the game and involved the community has been awesome.

The meaning of beta has been warped a lot recently, people seem to think that it means that the game is all finished except for bug testing.

Never mind that the game isn't even finished yet...

steam should start holding 50% of the money from unfinished titles in escrow until they are at a state promised by the developers.

so many of them seem to just stop doing updates

Im not knocking the game....it will all work out in the end and Im sure it will be great.....I think we will have to agree to disagree on if they have delivered when they say they planed too.

Am tempted to pick this up at £20. I love games like Supreme Commander, but it sounds like I should wait a while yet. The lack of any real single player content is disappointing.

There's no single player campaign but you can setup matches vs AI with plenty of options and there's already a ton of Mod's available.

It's in no way a finished game, the Dev's are quite clear about it and keep the community well informed on the official webby.

Is it worth £19+ ? It probably is if your a fan of SupCom and need a new RTS but there are bugs and it can get sluggish at times, but it's good fun.

I think I'll leave it on my wishlist for now. I know there's a lot of milage in custom skirmishes so I'm very likely to buy it at some point, but I'd rather play a finished game. Been burnt a few times on game pre-orders recently.

Anybody playing this? I love (to hate) it! The new gamma release is getting things nicely polished but there are not nearly enough people playing. RTS is by far my favourite PC genre and this is a good example of it. Get yer cards out and buy it :)
