Planetary Annihilation - Kickstarter Project

new update !!! single player content..

Galactic War !!!

We’re so, so stoked to say this: today, we’re releasing the first iteration of Galactic War, Planetary Annihilation’s single-player experience. Available now as a free update, Galactic War tasks you with taking over a dynamic galaxy by scouring the stars for tech and special perks.

In Galactic War, you’ll be placed in control of a reawakened Commander with access to a limited tech tree. As you explore and battle across the galaxy’s procedurally generated systems, you’ll collect random technology and find perks that boost your manufacturing and fighting capabilities.

We designed Galactic War to be replayable, and for every playthrough to feel different. We also want you to decide the scale and intensity: each of Galactic War’s sizes change how many systems are in the galaxy and introduce different loadouts.

And the pressure’s on. Annihilation is final.

This is the start of Galactic War . Much like with the game as a whole, you can expect updates that will add new features, mechanics, and more.

Get out there, already — and experience Galactic War over and over and over again.
sweet.

there is a part of my mind that just screams this is so unfair. its so easy to get int a position in the galactic wars were you cant win because you haven't found the tech you need. i.e. Navel Tech / Orbital tech / Air tech as examples!!

plus side i'm entertained more so than the multi player option which i don't really play a great deal of (hasn't played a single multi player game yet with another human).

plus side new respect for Tanks :D

steam should start holding 50% of the money from unfinished titles in escrow until they are at a state promised by the developers.

so many of them seem to just stop doing updates

So very right. Too many games dumped out as alpha/beta and what have you with promises of this and that within 'x' months. How many actually fulfil their promises?? Very few.

Want to pull the trigger on this but people still saying it's buggy and laggy?

Got this in the sale.

Buggy: Yes.
Laggy: No.

I believe a new build is due out any day now however that is heavily based around optimization and enables multi-threading and hopefully fixes a few of the bugs. That said I've been playing without any issues in terms of performance.

My assessment would be however that if you're looking for a game to play right now then this isn't it, I'd say by the Christmas sale this should be in that place. Right now it would only be if you want to get on the early access train to support it because it's missing a lot, it crashes a lot, has a few game stopping UI issues etc

Just for a bit of contrast, I'm yet to have it crash nor have I had any performance issues. There have been some graphical bugs, but they've not stopped any game I've played.

I also bought it, had some great fun with the game and not had any crashes or noticed any bugs.

Though I have not beat the AI yet, even on normal it's really aggressive :D

Can someone please tell me how the hell you build any tier 2 tech?

I can't see any options to build anything but tier 1 stuff, even though everything I've read so far says once you've built a tier 1 construction bot, you should be able to build the advanced factory type but I can't see any option to.

I just got this in the Steam sale... I've been at it for a few days and it can be fun but it's feeling too unbalanced to keep being fun.

I mean you get a sub commander, and while attacking the majority of systems with a single enemy you can just sit back and let it beat the round for you, and it will every time, often before you've really started churning out tanks etc or even gotten established. Find a core system and if you don't have all the best tech, super weapons, advanced orbital, advanced defense etc etc then you die as soon as the enemy builds what you don't have.

Not to mention the stale mates such as not being able to build naval or orbital units or nukes etc when all your AI opponent is building is Naval units in the middle of a large ocean. The worst stale mate I've come across so far though is when I'd made it to another planet, successfully defended it and captured all resources etc but lost my original bases on the main world. Having no orbital units for attack etc establishing a beach head is impossible.... so you have to abandon your campaign completely...

This really needs a rethink!
