PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

Same. Too many complaints about server issues to rush into buying this.

the server issues are small.i have brought this game 3 times now.so if anyone knows about games and being cautious i ticked the boxes.now having great fun with friends.just like when i played the old dayz mod.buy it.you wont regret it.

I see lots of people talking about Asian servers and have a question...

Are the asian servers easier to do well in because asian people for whatever reasons are generally rubbish at this game or is it to do with in game ranking, i.e.: because I've never played on the servers before I have no ranking and get matched up with lots of noobs whereas on EU servers I've played lots and get matched against people of similar skill level.

Yes it's because you are unranked in a new region and playing opponents below your elo.

I played one Solo there and won very easily, it felt like the equivalent of smurfing in cs:go, so I stopped and went back to EU to try and improve my skills.

It's not like they're forcing anyone to play FP, I just personally can't wait as it'll separate the men from the boys ;) Everyone else can carry on playing their easy mode 3rd person, i'll be on FP unless I can't find a squad of regulars, then i'll come play 3P.

I'm not really sure how it's easy mode when everyone has access to the same 3rd person view... plus you could equally argue that in 1st person it's easier to sneak up on people or exploit the more limited vision/FOV... the two play differently but I don't think there's that much of a skill difference when it comes down to it... It does make sense not to mix 3rd + 1st person players though since the advantages and disadvantages of each camera type compound each other

Anyone who thinks it's easier because of differing play styles or they're less cautious is being ridiculous. Most of the top notch clans come from Asia. I heard the same rubbish about the US servers, how EU players had easy kills because Americans couldn't play. You don't hear it anymore now the server issues are starting to calm down. Simple fact is its a mixture of ranking and lag compensation. For some reason, the higher your ping the better your experience in close quarters. Anything else is idiotic, same client same play styles.

The only possible reason I think the Asian server might have worse players is because a lot of people in places like South Korea play in PC Bangs which don't use high end PCs. Since PUBG is unoptimized they are probably getting terrible fps. But even this is probably massively overstated and not even an issue.

It's literally because you're unranked when you switch servers and are playing against day 1 players. We got 4 wins in a row on NA. Now that we've reached similar rank to our EU rating, there's practically no difference between NA and EU.

It's easy for everyone, as the 3rd person camera abuse is rife. Is there a person behind this wall...hang on, let me get next to it and angle the camera over to see. Hmmm, those 2 guys are pushing me, i'll just step out from behind this tree at the exact moment needed to take a shot.

In first person, every peek could be your last, it ups the ante, makes it a more riskier and imo, harder game.

I didn't think the matchmaking even worked on this yet anyway, so is it not totally random at the moment across all servers? The more likely reason Asia appears easier is that their PC gaming community is absolutely enormous, so there is an absolutley massive pool to choose from meaning the better players are much more spread out.

For example, i've played a few games on both the NA and AS server, so my ranking is reasonably low, yet im 300k on NA, and 1.4 million on AS. The top ranked AS player has a higher rating than anyone on any of the other servers. I heard a stat the other day that there are more PC gamers in China than the entire population of the US, so it's purely that there are more of them that it seems easier.

There is 100% an MMR system

My friend suddenly became very good (top 15 EU squad) and he was telling me how he gets matched with the same players who are also top of the leaderboard and matchmaking takes 5-10 minutes to find a game.

Best chicken dinner to date.

It does seem that they have an early version of an ELO based system in place, what it's paramaters are nobody has a bean but it does seem that there is something there. So that's another reason why people think AS is easy as well as the player base.

Well... yeah... so if you know there's someone behind a tree you don't just run up expecting them to not be able to see you... maybe don't even try to approach them directly at all and instead loop around down a dip or behind a ridge and out-position them... You're waiting next to a wall; instead of assuming that someone on the other side won't know you're there you ought to check yourself using the camera... It's a different playstyle sure but the whole argument goes both ways - you can't see anything until you peek, okay that makes it "harder"/"riskier", but it also means enemies will likewise be forced into more exposed positions which makes it easier for you in a similar way... It's all relative

Gahh this game is infuriating. Got the drop on a guy at point blank range, opened up full auto into his back with a modified Scar. He spins, kills me with a UMP even with a level 2 vest and a level 3 helmet! How does that work? this game sometimes...

Hopefully they are adjusting the camera in FP mode because as it stands currently it doesnt quite work, all too often when you go into FP mode the camera is too "low" , you cant quite see over that window ledge or that wall, which you should be able to see over

It'll be those lag issues that apparently dont exist.
