PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

Arghhh I need a 12 month contract when I move into the new place and the only one that is giving me the speed I think I want is Virgin...

Are there any providers that aren't on the price comparison sites that I should be looking at? This is not a business property but it will be shared between 4 people in total so need something that is a little zippy if we are all using the internet... but if I'm playing PUBG I can't be dealing with network lag!

Talking of which, i've graphed my connection on a superhub2. Anywhere to interpret the results? I have a lot of yellow spikes, wondering how to go about identifying whether its an issue or meh.

i've had VM for about 20 years at 2 different properties. never had anything major to grumble about. it's usually given me better speeds than what i'm supposed to get. the cabinet however has always been very close to both properties.

The Virgin SH3 Intel chip seems to be the go to excuse for any sort of problems lately, When it comes down PUBG I find it's the server itself that is causing the lag, I can play 10 games and 9 will be fine but 1 sprinkled in there will be laggy.

This is playing duos with a friend who is also on VM but the opposite side of town and we're both on 200 and get full speed 24/7.

Pure interest how do you know it's the server?

I'll have various other things open at the same time as playing and none are affected, running speedtests and checking on fast.com all come back at my max speed, the only difference when it happens is joining a new game / server it doesn't happen every game but it'll affect me occasionally, the same has been reported on reddit by people on different ISP also. Seems to affect me more after a patch is out and the play count shoots up.

I wouldnt be surprised, the servers for EU are the Amazon AWS distributed jobbies, and its hit or miss if you get a good game. Having said that, last time I had serious consistent problems I recycled my modem and they improved. I think its probably a mixture of everything, but at least I can affect the modem.

Roll on private servers so I can just connect to the UK everytime.

If you wanted more accurate results then wireshark or http://winmtr.net/ would show you where it's failing. Mine ( and the other 2 VM users I tested with) have issues with the Ireland AWS ingress. Whenever there's lag (ignoring the initial beginning of game cluster ****) it's been packet loss there.

It can only get better I hope.

I'm not saying Battlefield 1 is game of the year or the perfect game, but after playing a couple of hours of PUBG why does going back to BF1 make it feel so smooth and fluid, aiming is so much snapper and more precise.
I can't wait for first person mode, going to be the only way I play this when it comes out, sick of 3rd person corner campers.

To be fair it will just change how the camping is done :D.

I do get what you mean. Rainbow six felt super smooth after playing this certainly made my aim better as well.

While the concept of the game I really like. I feel the same way about how the game runs badly. It feels like everything is running in slow-mo. I went back to playing Day of Infamy for a bit and doing that you realise PUBG is a poor twitch game, playing more like a fpsmmo.

Lol - completely wrecking last night on the AS servers...........

2 chicken dinners from 3 games in squads.....

it really is like seal clubbing. I've played enough on the AS servers that my rank is reasonably high and yea the odd game i'll run into decent players but for the most part top 5 is relatively easy as long as I don't go all yolo. might actually run solo on the AS squad server again for some lolz

Honestly it was so funny.

Dropped into Malta as a 4 man - 2 other guys across the road, their other 2 buddies decided to roll up in a Uaz, they sat in the middle of the road in the open topped Uaz, other 2 strolled out to get picked up and I put 3 of them down and the other died as well. It was embarrassingly easy

Exactly. At the moment there aren't many places indoors where a camper can be fully hidden as you can 3rd person look up stairs and round corners before revealing yourself. In first person they can just prone near the top of stairs and shoot your head off before you even know they're there.
