PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

enjoy the game ;) its doing well at moment hypes behind it.will it continue to do so or be developed you just cant tell dayz made 4 times as much look at that POS now.does seem fun though and many are enjoying it.

as to the guy saying hes made 25 mill no he hasnt.there is a team there is all kinda stuff.its sold well though for a pc title with little promotion apart from players/youtubers/streamers.

steam for a start take 30 percent of the sales before they even sold.then there is the team hes been working on it for 3-4 years.
That will be me then :), wow, did not think steam took that much(30%) no wonder they(Valve) dont need to make half Life 3 then, thought they may have took like 5%, 10% max.

hes has been making the mod since arma 2. it was out on arma 3 from start. so longer than that.it was 2 years ago on arma 3 when it was out for free.so it probably is close to 3 years atleast when he first started doing it.

That isn't what you said lol.

Battlegrounds has not been in production involving playerunknown for more than 1 year.

The only person who is involved in battlegrounds development that had involvement in previous Battle Royale mods is... playerunknown..

I should probably also mention at this point that nobody was paid with money for their development work on the battle royale mods either so you can't really negate that from the sales figures.

I can't find a source now but can anyone else confirm that they're planning a league type system in this where your games should be with other players of around the same skill level? Sure I read it somewhere a few weeks back.

Yep, its doing very well I'd say, got to say its a huge amount of fun, probably 9 out of 10 people I've known try it has liked it and much of its selling effect has come from word of mouth which is also good , been good steady near constant growth.

Thank god that nobody went OTT on the hyperbole and claimed it would drop like a stone a few weeks ago, would hate to be so wrong so publicly on record ;p

My goals are simple right now, get at least 2 kills per game, if I can manage that, i'm smiling. I don't think i'm ever going to win this.

Rather than just aim for the kills, try to work out what you're doing wrong each death so you can improve on it. Even if it is just one thing each round. Or try a different approach until you find a play style that gets you closer to the win.

Surely the only people who'd likely say something like that would be those with an agenda and a wish to see this fail before it even starts.

There is already skill based matchmaking to an extent, based on your results in previous games, just isn't working completely as intended yet though.

A proper league is coming, not just the in-game ladder. Not sure if the plans have changed but will be around the same time a physical event is held.

My post was kind of tongue in cheek, i'm a very tactical player but in this it hasn't really helped me much. I've got over 1000 hours in Arma 3 mods such as Breaking Point and Exile which rely on patience of play, situational awareness and timing of shots/kills. I'm just at my wits end and aiming for kills for a few days rather than trying for wins as no matter what I try, the wins don't come.

I guess my style of play would be termed Roleplay.. I literally play the game as if I was there in reality. I do exactly what I would do in RL to try and survive. So that often means hiding, laying low, being still and extremely patient. I find that in Battlegrounds, as in real life, running and gunning like mad simply results in a shortened life line :)

(Besides I have dozens of more arcadey focused run and gun games , so this is a welcome change of pace and style)

Sorry, you've lost me, can say what in a few years?

I've said its doing well (which it is) , I've said its a huge amount of fun (which it is) , I've said its been good steady near constant growth (which it has). In fact, everything I have said has been right, so I'm not sure why I cant say it, whatever it is that I've said that I cant??

On the other hand, someone said it would drop like a stone weeks ago, not in a few years time, but literally a few weeks ago (which it definitely didnt, which was wrong :) )

If I was wrong in something I stated there, please do say, I am an honest and worthy enough person to admit when I have been wrong about something and hold up my hands to a mistake.

if the game has succeeded. you are going off sales.dayz sa is the prime eg of showing sales doesnt mean it is a great game.sa is rubbish.how the game progresses and if its made to a great state is what matters.

not saying this is the same but it could be . so you cant claim anything yet its early access.you dont need to debate winning or losing whatever. its done well first few weeks so ill give you that.

i just rebrought it to try again and see how the bugs are.if its progressed.

dont judge or get me wrong. i want this game to be great. it looks fun and many people want it.

now lets see how it plays since launch.

I'm judging based on player numbers which have steadily increased from day 1, sales mean bugger all. Look at Conan, that cleared crazy money and only has about 7k peak players.

But you are getting your tenses wrong. I havent said it has succeeded, I've said that so far it is succeeding. Which I would absolutely say is undeniable. I've said nothing about how it will be in time to come, only what it is right now.

I'm judging based on that fact that I enjoy it, it already has more content than DayZ did on release and is still more optimised than that was for 3 years of development.

I liked DayZ too but these devs are already 100x more interested in their community than those guys are.

I just can't survive in the military base. Never find a weapon quick enough, or get murdered as soon as I find one by someone hiding somewhere cunning that found one waaaay before me.

I love the tension when you're close to a firefight, and can't decide whether or not to engage or to just stay still and hope no one's spotted you.
If you don't shoot, they might get you anyway... if you do, you just gave away your location.
