Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

Was pretty clear and you responded to the point about a pc of similar spec so why are you now confused?

so DDR3 and GDDR5 are similar in terms of performance?

also how can you possibly explain the £35 for a psu and chassis? last time i checked a half decent psu cost £50+, i know the one in my last 2 rigs have cost around £100 a piece.

you also then have to factor in things like they do not even include a controller or blu ray drive, etc, etc.

economies of scale, playstation are making millions of units, there is no way you can buy the same thing for the same price as a one off. maybe in a years time yes, but not at the time the first ps4 rolls off the production line.

Point was around £400, not £400 on the nose. There is no real need for a blu ray drive on a PC. Ok when does the first PS4 roll off the production line and we will revisit this issue?

The thing is, when people make these comparisons, they ignore the more important price which is cost price and the possibility that said console us being sold at a loss, which is fairly common really.

I really don't see what people are whinging about. I'm mainly into playing games on PC and have got a quite high end PC for that reason, amongst others, but I am very interested in the PS4, and really looking forward to when it comes out.

It's really simple. The specs aren't comparable, that's all there is to it. Once they start dropping integral parts with the excuse that it's okay because they're not really needed it's time to not take them seriously.

I think you missed the point, they are not matching spec for spec. The article was giving PC specs that they believe would run to a similar performance of the PS4.

What integral part was dropped?

Oh shut up. Talk about pathetically boring.

Consoles are so much easier, more consistent and have the primary support of most game developers. It's infinitely faster and simpler to set a console up and get playing across xbox live / PSN with a consistent service and a huge community.

The graphics are generally extremely similar even when a pc version has the advantage, as console games are the primary development focus. I want to play on my 55" 3D tv, not on my pc monitor. Oh and if you pc mentalists think a comeback of "oh I can use my pc on my large tv too"... well then you're also limited at 1080p so that's your resolution advantage down the pan immediately.

Who cares? A pc is and never will be a PS3. You'll never have PSN, you'll never have the consistent AAA developers targetting your platform, you'll never have Playstation Eye, you'll never have instant resume gaming, you'll never have Playstation move, you'll never have the streaming features so effectively accessible.

Go play on your pc and don't worry about what the consoles are doing if you prefer. You don't see anyone in the PC section rambling on about how your huge box looks ridiculous and your graphics cards are too loud and your windows crashed. Jeez.

Why are any of you wasting your time arguing with the other side when it's quite clear nobody is going to budge on the way they think? It's so pointless it's almost funny.

Does anyone know the rumoured price?

It was on another site (not sure if I can mention who?) for £399.99 but take that with a pinch of salt.

I don't play on PC  All I am saying is comments by some on here that pc gamers need to upgrade every other month, or spend a fortune to play games similar to console gamers are just wrong.

I love the fact you promote your PC specs in a sig though :D

I would be interested for you to do this. Please use OCUK and post up a complete hardware spec that will match the PS4 graphics.

Considering you will need to include a GTX 680+ to come even remotely close, shall be interesting since it alone costs more than the console. lol

Thank you

They've released a price for PS4?

Wait, your arguments in favour of the PS3 are Playstation eye, Move and PSN? Wow.

Unfortunately I'm not fussed about changing my signature. It's been static for years...

To play the games that will be released over the PS4's lifespan, you absolutely WILL have to upgrade a similar priced pc.

The GeForce 8 series was the fastest available gpu when the PS3 was released. Try playing diablo 3 with that. Funnily enough the PS3 can do it.

You could easily name a lot of things you'll never have on a PS3 that you have on PC as well.

The point is you can get a PC that can play games just as well as the PS4 for around a similar price.

You'll never have PSN - Why would a PC gamer want PSN exactly?

You'll never have the consistent AAA developers targeting your platform - There are still many AAA developers primarily targeting the PC. Granted not as much as consoles but that's just a consequence of not being in the lowest common denominator.

You'll never have Playstation Eye - So a plus for PC gamers then.

You'll never have instant resume gaming - What, you mean pressing escape and then alt-tabbing out of the game and clicking the icon again to bring it back up?

You'll never have Playstation move - See PS eye.

You'll never have the streaming features so effectively accessible - Not really a big deal for the vast majority. If a PC gamer really wants to stream it's not exactly a difficult task.
