Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

you'd hope so, but with the rumored EA deal floating around who knows.

Yeah, EA are a huge publisher so I feel they could still make or break a console. In Europe and the USA at least with their sports franchises. I doubt it would be an exclusive game though, they would most likely make more money going multi format. Unless Microsoft were to offer silly money of course but I can't see anything other than timed DLC.

they wont make the sports franchises console exclusives as they bring in too much money for EA. ms would have to sign them up for a multiyear contract and throw a at least $300 million at them, something i cant see happening.

it will either be a exclusive new game or series of games, release date windows so a game ships 6-9 months late on everything else, of the normal exclusive dlc stuff which to be brutally honest no one cares much about.

and with it being EA a lot of people wont care anyways, especially with the company motto of "greed"

So EA make so much money from games that they won't go with one console exclusively, but everyone hates them and does not care about their games?

Not sure how you work that one out.

well going off wiki and the best selling games madden, fifa lag way behind GTA for example, even though both games have been out longer and have had more versions.

and i was talking about dlc when i said no one cares much about.

and generaly EA saying they will make games only for xbox or playstation isnt going to make a few million people buy the console on that reason alone.

Plenty others release DLC not just EA?

I would think if EA did side with MS or Sony and only release games on that platform then it would be a massive market changer.

as i was saying mr men, exclusive dls isnt going to make a couple of million people buy a console over another one.

as for EA going single platform only, it wont do it for its major franchises unless ms is throwing a lot of money at them.

DLC won't but if you could only play the likes of Fifa, Madden, Battlefield on one console then it would be a major market changer.

EA gave the PS3 exclusive time based DLC on BF3 for instance so there must be some benefit to both Sony and MS for doing such a deal.

they probably did the deal expecting to make more money, weather they did or not i just dont know.

but we wont see the major franchises on one system as its not just a 2 way tie here, you have the wiiu and the pc as well as vita. for EA to sign up and say madden or fifa will only be on the xbox for 5 years (2014-2019) ms would have to hurl a lot of money at EA, id be betting a few hundred million at least otherwise EA wouldnt do it, and that also depends on what fifa and the nfl say about it, as dont forget these games are a way to grow there own sport as well so will probably have some very specific details in there contracts as far as being available for multiple platforms.

im just being realistic about any possible EA deal with MS, personally i just dont see any such a deal outside of a major franchise going xbox only changing the overall console sales figures.

As a big fan of the 360 this generation I'm just not too excited about the Next Box. I just get the sense that Microsoft is almost embarrassed about there machine playing games. From the terrible last software update with adverts everywhere to the push for Kinnect and casual games. The exclusives have almost entirely dropped the second half of this gen (in my mind reinforcing this shift away from the core gamer).

Now MS will need the core gamer again (aka the early adopters) and I just feel what ever they promise is I.e EA exclusitivity etc etc is just bait and once they have you they will again try to be all things to all people.

I felt it lacking the only big ones been Halo and Gears? Both a very similar game. Nothing like Uncharted, Heavy Rain, God of War, Metal Gear and the various RPG's the playstation seems to get. :)

Adverts everywhere makes me chuckle, there is 5 over the whole dashboard.

Well let me clarify its just so unfunctional and de prioritises what as a game console it should emphasise the most, coupled with the adverts on most screens (internal and external) it doesn't lead to a very user friendly experience to anyone not a casual fan.

Forza and Fable have both been pretty big as well. I wouldn't say either console dominates for exclusives, they just have different types (PS3 leaning towards Japanese, 360 towards Western obviously)
