So... who actually is going to use the 4k on this thing? Cheaper 4k on a console! Except the TVs that make the most of it cost almost as much as PCs... unless one plays the smart option of using a 4k monitor, those are fairly affordable. Though that's much like buying 2 of these PS4Pros.
I will say the value of the hardware is good. Why buy a regular PS4 when you can buy one of these for what OG PS4 used to cost? But for now, the 4k remains a gimmick avaiable to few. Even 4k monitors are much less common than the likes of 1440p or 144Hz monitors (or both).
PSPro missed out big-time due to one thing... not improving the 1080p games much. I hear the 1080p mode is exactly the same as regular PS4. That's a major downer. Except for those of us who own a regular PS4, the new one doesn't actually make the original PS4 obsolete in that regard. I'm happy keeping my regular PS4. Not like a PS4Pro would make Bloodborne run at 60fps...
Here's hoping some of the smarter developers just render upscaled 1080p/1440p for the 4k mode and try to target the 60fps.
