Plusnet Discussion Thread

Fibre finally available in my area, cabinet has been sat for over 6 months and the power was put to it not long after it was installed. My original PCP had to be replaced though as it was too small but in a new location as a new PCP would have covered someones drive. Ordered through topcashback and quoted between 69mb and 80mb on the bt broadband checker.

Install date is the 1st of may so just need to purchase a new router before then.

Been without internet for nearly a day now with the fault 'concentrator not reachable' and PN are investigating. Major lack of communication from them though :(

Been with plusnet for a good year myself. Best speeds in my area, faultless support if i have issues and overall just really nice people. My fav ISP to date. Its just a pity I feel the router sucks abit, Kinda wanna replace it with a asus box.

Same here, I want a decent router that will give me much better wifi then the stock plusnet box but otherwise the service has been great.

Anyone experiencing a major drop in d/l speed during peak times? I'm getting some really bad results. Downloads are crawling. I never had this issue before, seems to be recent.

That is strange since when I mentioned I had a connection drop with that error showing on the router, the person I spoke to actually knew what they were doing and immediately went to check if there were any problems at my exchange which is what the problem was (they was replacing a faulty component at the exchange) so you might want to have another go to see if you can get someone who knows what they're doing.

Plusnet couldn't take payment today after a back account change! Grilled them about the issue further and they have finally admitted there is a fault in our area....

I guess it's not just me having slow downs in the evenings then? It's not great at the moment. Down to about 5Mbps at the moment even on my ADSL connection, it's usually at about 12 Mbps. Sometimes forcing a new gateway fixes the issue for me, there is definitely some congestion somewhere.

Can't say I've had any issues with slow downs, but then I'm on a long line and don't get high speeds anyway.

Since getting my Billion 8800axl my speeds have been slowly increasing as now the dlm is happier than with the ECI modem I had. Also now getting G.INP.

Still offline. Was supposed to be sorted by 5pm, got bumped back to 8pm and they missed that.

Latest is now 10pm!

Unimpressed!

Unfortunately, they are at the mercy of BTOR since they are the only ones who con do work on the lines and the exchanges so you shouldn't blame plusnet for something that is out of their control.

Was a Be user, until the automatic transfer to Sky ~12 months ago, never spoken to anyone there or signed anything in terms on a contract. Minimum cost was ~£25 pcm for phone and ADSL2 (archaic internal phone wiring limits us to ~7500mbps download).

In the last 24 hours I've discovered that our minimum cost has increased to ~£31, I don't recall any price increase notification, so I'm moving.

Thinking of taking up the Plusnet Unlimited Fibre offer, free broadband for 6 month months then ~£15pcm, plus with an annual payment up front ~£13 for phone.

Hoping that Plusnet can automatically cancel the Sky internet/phone for us and keep our phone number.

Am I right in thinking a "Fiber" package would not send the broadband through our BT phone wiring?

Been ages since I moved providers, been with Be since 2006, is this transfer to Plusnet easy peasy lemon squeezey? :D

Plusnet did all the work when I moved from sky internet/phone to them, and we kept the phone number.

Automatic migrations to Sky usually got a 12 month offer of some sort so that's likely come to an end.

Assuming you provide Plusnet with the telephone number and address they should inform Sky and you shouldn't need to lift a finger.

No you're wrong there. The fibre part is to your local BT cabinet. If you have a look on the Plusnet site there will be a bit where you type in your phone number/ post code. You'll find out there what packages are available to you.
