Plusnet Discussion Thread

Ok, I was just wondering if they quoted the speeds you're getting as their estimated speed or not. It's likely just a profile issue and the engineer will likely reset DLM.

They did with me... I originally purchased 80/20, knew I couldn't get 80 but could get 56Mbps. half a year later I'm capped at 40/10 but I have no proof as the other half ordered it and has deleted all the e-mails etc! my attainable rate is now at 39/11. I was one of the first on that cabinet I believe...

I don't see why BT would need to come out when your download is as normal. Sounds more like some kind of cap or limit in place not something physical.

That is what I am going to find out on Friday. My contract was 80/20 speeds

I used to get around 74/18 and recently my upload speed has plummeted to under 2. I am not happy about it and that is why I have complained

I joined PN in 2013 and was getting 77/18 until last year. Then all of a sudden my profile has gone down to 60/15. It's still pretty fast but I asked PN why the drop in speed of 17mbps in a year. As usual I was told the party line that lines settle etc and it's still within their limits and there's nothing they can do. When I chatted online I was also told it was due to too many connections in my area. I know I'm in a better position than most people with speeds but I's still like to know where the 17mbps has gone :)

Quick question because its hard to find the answer on Plusnets website. Is the 38mbs package now only 2mbs upload? I am moving on Saturday and was about to pull the trigger seen as they have a deal on. I think I'll have to play right into their hands and go for the 78mbs package instead. Not really necessary as I don't do any downloading (just streaming TV and music) but I also use Google Drive a lot now and couldn't bear to be stuck with only 2mbs up!

Also, anyone used Topcashback for PN? They have a good deal in but you have to give them your bacs details which I hate :(

Grim :( Oh well. I'm actually moving back to my old flat which I managed to get about 60mbs with horrendously old internal wiring (which disconnected when my girlfriend was a bit over-vigorous with her dusting near the box). The flats been totally gutted and refurbished, so bearing in mind it's only 100m or so from the exchange hopefully I'll get better than that now.

With the current TopCashBack offer I can save £95 which is the difference between the two packages over 2yrs anyway. Although I still don't like putting in my bank details..

You do according to the terms of the plus net offer. Pulled the trigger and cashback already showing. Sweet. Now I need to find out why PN have sent me an email saying my phone order has been cancelled

Would it be possible to switch to Plusnet if I'm on BT FTTH? I still have the old copper phone line installed but would like to keep using FTTH if I moved.

I used to get 74/18 and now it is 74/2

I am not getting what I am paying for at all.

If I get any bull from them I will cancel.

When I took the contract out with them it was 18 upload speed

There is no guarantee on upload speeds, Only download speeds ;)

So getting out of the contract will not be achievable.

I ordered the 80/20 package, with an estimate of 76/20, I only get 7.5 upload, BT Openreach came out and told me there's nothing that can be done, Plusnet say that same, very very frustrating.

Scrap that, I've now moved and the daft landlords neglected to put an aerial socket in the lounge. Wtf?

Not sure I want to faff with an indoor aerial. They have the double fibre socket "for Virgin" so it might be easier to go with them.

Anyone know if I can get money back for my Plus net install? Seems to suggest I have 14 days.. Nothing has been done yet.

Yeah fingers crossed. The landlord is going to check with the builders tomorrow (its just been refurbished) to see what they can do. The crazy thing is there's an aerial on the roof, and aerial sockets in the bedrooms upstairs. Why they neglected to put one in the lounge..

Expect at least a 45 min wait when you call. I wouldn't use them if they gave me it all for free :D
