Plusnet Discussion Thread

The extra lan on the VDSL modem is useless to you, unless it has the 'hacked' firmware on it allowing you to view the stats (assuming you've got the Huawei HG612 unit)

Plusnet were pushing firmware updates to the 2704n a few weeks back, it might be worth getting in touch with them to see if they'll push yours through.

I asked over the pone but they wouldn't or couldn't. Either ive got the latest or my wave has to yet to come.

My current firmware is 7.275.2 and trying to find the latest online is proving a little troublesome.

Edit: Replaced the router with a Asus RT-N66U and everything is working perfectly. No problems yet...

I've had enough of Sky so today I purchased the Fibre Unlimited Bundle today.

Cheaper than Sky and hopefully should be a better connection too!

What's he Hub One like? I'm using the Sky SR102 at the moment so I know it will be a lot better than that!

Does it support 802.11ac?

Service has been dog**** from plusnet the past few months for me, I'm on the 80/20 package and have been capped on a 40mb down profile for reasons even they can't explain. Was told a manager had sorted it and a reboot 30 minutes after our chat would have restored things, low and behold it didn't and now I have to wait for a 72 hour line test to try and explain things which in my opinion is just another hold up for something they have no clue about.

Having problems with Plusnet myself. Upload speed has dropped from 18 to under 2

I contacted them about this and they are sending a BT engineer out next Friday.

I will keep you all updated

All fine and well, no issues so far.

Mine does sometimes drop to around 10Mbps during peak times. Seems to be fine at the moment though. I don't do a whole lot of uploading so don't really notice.

I have spoked to Plusnet about it and an BT engineer is coming out next Friday.

I want what I am paying for ;)

Technically you are getting what you pay for... If you're one for believing in the 'up to' BS. :D

If my upload was 2Mbps i would be complaining too. :p

I used to get 74/18 and now it is 74/2

I am not getting what I am paying for at all.

If I get any bull from them I will cancel.

When I took the contract out with them it was 18 upload speed

I agree that people should get what they are paying for,The problem with ISPs these days they use the "Up to" get out clause.

They over subscribe in a lot of areas,And to top it all off they keep on putting the bill up every six months.
Im not talking about Plusnet,But generally most if not all ISPs now are getting like this.

It seems that way from what I have seen. If they can't do me 18 upload speeds I have a right to cancel.

I know they hit their 38 meg speed download package with a 2 meg upload speed

I would beg to differ, at least from my internal experience at Sky. Every week for over s year now I get an email that advises on Exchange saturation on the Openreach side. 80% of the time there isn't any. Any time I've seen any mentioned it's usually also with a fix already to go within a few days. Virgin are notorious for it, to the extent that if you live in a university town or close to one in a city then you hardly ever get what you pay for and long for the holidays.

When I signed up with Plusnet they were offering 80/20 speeds

They can't change it halfway through a contract.

I will see when the engineer comes out next week.

They did with me... I originally purchased 80/20, knew I couldn't get 80 but could get 56Mbps. half a year later I'm capped at 40/10 but I have no proof as the other half ordered it and has deleted all the e-mails etc! my attainable rate is now at 39/11. I was one of the first on that cabinet I believe...

I don't see why BT would need to come out when your download is as normal. Sounds more like some kind of cap or limit in place not something physical.
