Plusnet Discussion Thread

Is it possible to retro grade back to ADSL from fibre with Plusnet? Thinking about it as I just don't use this connection anywhere near to its potential.

* Just got off the phone and was told not possible and anyway I'd only get 4/1 on ADSL, which I odd as I was getting 16/2 (not 100% on the upload but it was highish) with Bethere.

Thats interesting, I suppose if you sold your house the buyers would have to pay to have it converted back with original socket etc if they didnt want fibre or is it just that Plusnet will not roll back

Have PlusNet sorted their new network issue out yet?

With Sky dropping static IP's I may go to PlusNet.

If you're an existing Fibre Pro customer you can keep the package and keep your Static IP. From what I've read, of the few thousand Pro customers we had, only a few hundred used the Static IP. Most simply wanted it for the speed.

I'm with Zen, I had intended on moving back to Sky in December/January when my contract runs out. I have a DDNS address so I guess static IP isn't such a concern.

Any update on the plusnet network issue?

I noticed my own has started to drop packets now after every 10 pings or so and this is on the new network.

Ping also has gone from 17-18 to 21ms.

Plusnet tried to fix my packet loss by assigning me a static IP, well it did that... However my connection speed is now 21Mbps, it should be 74Mbps.

Currently been sat in a queue for 45 mins to speak to someone. Not impressed at all.

Interesting how they're assigning static IPs to fix packet loss, I do know that static IP customers are terminated on different BNGs than regular dynamic customers, at Plusnet.

I wonder if their new network is having some nasty problems,

Well this is fun, getting 50 kB/s download speeds tonight. 100x slower than it should be!

Plusnet recommends I use a different Ethernet cable...

Ah I see, thank you for pointing that out mate. Not sure I could justify the extra for 19Mb upload hmmm.

I think Plusnet will be offering 55/10 at some point soon, might be worth asking them via the webchat to clarify, I've been with them for 3 years now since I moved in and I've had no complaints.

The new network is they are moving people over from a shared WBC to their own dedicated WBC platform.

I've been on the new network for months with no problems at all up until 4 weeks ago, when it looks like they moved a lot of others on to it.

If your IP starts with 51 you are on the new network.
Is this the only IP range that is affected? I have huge speed issues but my IP starts with 87.

Any suggestions for a router to replace the one plus net sent to me when I upgraded at the beginning of the year? Ideally I'd like to have a guest wifi option.
