DSL light still solid but internet light is going red? This would usually indicate an intermittant authentication issue so the router could have possibly failed or there is some kind of issue with communicating with the RAS.
Can you take the router out from the setup, connect directly to the openreach modem with your computer ( into lan1 ) .
Open network & sharing center -> set up a new connection or network -> connect to the internet -> Broadband (pppoe) -> enter your [email protected] and account password and monitor the connection for a few hours and see if you still have any drops in connection this way we can rule out a problem with the router or the connection itself
