Plusnet Discussion Thread

There's nothing to stop you using extension wiring for your phones.

Ignoring the fact that there's a separate modem and router it's very similar to a normal ADSL setup.

I'd prefer to be able to use one of the extension sockets for the phone, save having a cable running through the house. Thanks for the answer though.

My master socket has no power sockets near it. My router will have to be plugged into an extension socket. Is that going to cause issues?

There is an option to select an extension kit when ordering from plusnet (I believe it's free?). The OR engineer will install the new fibre faceplate and run the data extension kit (30m?) to where you want it. The fibre modem will be connected to the data extension kit.

I already had an ADSL extension kit installed and the OR engineer reused it and got a better sync than when connected to the master socket!

Has interleaving been turned on?

Ping has gone from 8ms to 24ms

DL from 22.5Mb/s to 19.7 Mb/s
UL from 3.9Mb/S to 3.5Mb/s

:(

Thought so.

Strange thing is that its been really stable since it was installed or so I thought. I assume I'm stuck with interleaving?

Not necessarily. It might go away after a couple of days to a few weeks if the line remains stable.

Interleaving is by default set to auto on fibre connection and usually we keep it configured in that state, as long as the line is stable for around 48 - 72 hours with no errors or drops then it should switch itself off :-)

I'm going to dump Sky FTTC at the end of this year (November) and go with plusnet I think, at this cost and the estimated speeds I would get I can't see why I wouldn't

I get full speeds with Sky currently

Sky is LLU and they normally use their own equipment so their may be a difference in the speeds, you can use the plusnet website to get an estimated speed for FTTC though :-)

Also £73.50 cashback via Topcashback if you sign up within the next 3 days. I have noticed that they regularly have this cashback offer on so if you miss it it should appear again at some point.

Plusnet has been great since I moved to them. No problems at all.

Thanks horrorxpunk. Just asking, can you(plusnet) manually turn it off if requested?
