Plusnet Discussion Thread

Wireless is rubbish for speed testing. You need to use a wired connection.

No.

I know that I can get a wireless speed of around 60mb from my Nexus 10, so I therefore know the router is giving a wireless speed of at least 60mb.
So I should be getting around that (if not more) with my PC via wireless.

So, your stuck at 0.22Mbps until Monday. That's pretty bad. I think I start to worry about my FTTC with Plusnet expecially the fault will not taken until after 72 hours. I might look at other isp who can fix the fault within 24 hours (not 72 hours)

If only wireless networking were that simple. :D

I guess I should telnet into my Modem to see what's going on. :)

Yep it a fault as I can understand that Plusnet can reset DLM for ADSL2+ but cannot do for FTTC as it need an engineer at the cabinet (line card) to reset it.

I recently had mine reset, the engineer did it while still at my house just by using his phone to request the rest.

Just got a email saying i've been selected to trial Plusnets new YouView service. :)
They send you the box for free for 3 months then you'll have to subscribe or send it back.

Hopefully i'll get to trial it. Been wanting to try out Youview for a while

How long did it take from you booking the fault till Openreach did the rest?

Once PN answered my ticket, which took several days, they booked an engineer for the next day. I had 2 visits in total and the reset was done on the second visit. I did get called by PN afterwards to check everything was ok.

Are u on 40/10 or 80/20 FTTC Mike?

80/20

PN Unlimited Fibre Broadband which is the unlimited package. The speed I get is very good as I still live some distance from the cabinet.

Mike 80/20 would be pointless if you only getting below 40/10 speed estimate as I can understand why u choose 80/20 because of unlimited usage allowance. Normally Plusnet won't allow this. So, count yourself lucky.

I signed up to PN back in May and chose the Unlimited package over the essentials so I could have unlimited usage, it's only a few more pounds extra anyway. The essentials 40GB monthly usage wouldn't be enough for me. I had no issues selecting it and don't see why PN would not allow it.

Is there any chance that my router (RT-N56U) may be the cause of my issue?

I've wanted to swap it out with the RT-N66U for a while. Every cloud...

I doubt it. I have the same router as you. I even tried the supplied plus net one when I had my issue, made no difference as the DLM thought there was a problem on my line so put me on a lower profile.
