Plusnet Discussion Thread

Using an asus n66u here and all is good. I admit I dont use it to its full potential but im happy with the wifi range. I never really tried the free router so I cant compare.

Try the free router to see if it suits your needs if not maybe get a tp link or asus eco series router instead of the homehub?

I've been using that TG582n router (supplied by O2) for the past 18 months or so and it's been fine.
However I don't know what it's going to be like when my PN Fibre BB is installed tomorrow. Went and paid the £5.99 p&p for a new box not realising it's the same as I already have! :o

Got connected today and am currently using their supplied router.
Apart from a call (with a 20 minute wait) to Plusnet for them to actually activate the connection, it went smoothly.
The BT engineer said it should all be working straight away and as soon as he had tested the master socket (moved into another room) he was out of there sharpish.

So when I got the constant red light on the router, I did a bit of digging online (3g phone connection!) and realised/hoped it was simply a matter of Plusnet flicking some switches their end.....and it was. It came on whilst I was still on the phone to customer support.

I presume the sorting of the line and speed is taking place as my speed test results are varying from 5-9mpbs up and 15-19mpbs down.
Was told I'd get around 76 up and 18 down.

As long as I'm connected, that'll do for the next week or two while it gets tweaked.

i needed to reboot my bt box and the plusnet one to get my recommended speed i was only on 7mb i rebooted about 4-5 hours after the connection was activated and i jumped to 38mb.

just try not to keep rebooting it.

Ha! Just did a reset and took several speed readings (to get average) on my wi-fi gear.

Galaxy S2 - 12 ping 30mb/18mb
Nexus 10 - 11 ping 53mb/18mb
PC - 0 ping 13mb/13mb

All are in the same room and same distance from router (that is in another room.)
Guessing it's a hardware issue.
I'll see how it goes!

Yes, it's just taken me 5 minutes to get to my Thinkbroadband monitor, and it doesn't look good. Will reboot my router then modem, after that I'm ringing up.

So sorry to hear it. At present I am with Virgin Media 126/11 but getting fed up with it, service down lots of time, engineers sent out approx totally 8 times and they cannot get it fixed soon. The speed I am getting with virgin media on 126/11 is horrible, so I thought when my FTTC is ready then I will get a better FTTC service with Plusnet and cancel with virgin media as I had enough troubles ongoing with virgin media and they don't care to fix it.

Today was a joke :

The day before was ok:

Well this is the first problem I've had, and they've booked it out with BT to check the line. At least it still works, albeit not brilliantly.
