My cabinet in my little village finally went live sometime today / yesterday (been checking the openreach website everyday :O ) Gone and ordered plusnet with the £105 cash back from topcashback. Estimated 80mb/s cant wait for it to be all done being on 5mb/s is killing me!
Had PlusNet FTTC installed this morning. I'm out in a village and still 1km from my green cabinet. Estimates showed 14 to 20mb but I've been on to PlusNet Support as I'm only getting 7.4Mbps. Apparently BT haven't updated my ip profile and the BT wholesale checker only shows max achievable as 7.68Mbps (still the old 'up to 8mb' profile).
Been told to wait 24hrs to see if it updates, bit of a disappointment really![]()
What is your upload? I had this but my upload was 13Mbps but my download was still at 2.5Mbps. Had to call PlusNet as I'm guessing they put a limit on my line. The guy on the phone did spot the issue and fix it on the spot.
I have one complaint against the supplied Technicolour at that is that my Surface RT does not like it and keeps having to reconnect for the Internet to work.
Support does seem pretty good up to now, although I had to give them a little poke today seeing as I go live on Monday and they still hadn't sent the router out.
Its in the post now apparently, but as they say it can take 2-5 working days thats cutting it a bit fine IMO.
Well that's a disappointment, engineer has been and there's no faults on the line. Apparently my FTTC is within tolerance and going as fast as it ever will (sub 8mb) and the discrepancy between the availability checker and real life is because the checker estimates speed to the main pole which is still some 500 or more metres away from my property.
Property aka House smarty-pants![]()
I was originally scheduled for a remote activation but an engineer popped round and installed it instead. However this caused a computer mix up and my internet was automatically cut out on the 8th.
I was told five days for a remote activation and I'm still without internet. Frustrating but at least the tech support were helpful.
