i was down to 6mb last night, quick test this morning had me at 30mb from speed test so part way back to normal

aha! - now that may explain why when I ping www.google.com using -t once in a while it fails! - anyways screw BT I'm going to Virgin now lol.
Sorry - I meant speed wise - I always get a constant 72Mb down 18Mb up. saying that though when i first took out the service 18 months ago I was getting 76Mb down / 18up - loss of a full 4 jiggabytes there! - oh well
Just signed up with Plusnet for Unlimited Fibre 76/19.5 and Anytime Home Phone, for my new house and took advantage of a cash back offer and got £101.00

had my own bit of weirdness with plusnet and not even been with them a month yet!
Their website showed me as being connected at 78 Mb. On thursday I was disconnected from the internet for about 90 seconds (right in the middle of an intense skirmish in world vs world on guild wars 2) when i got the internet back i went to their website and now I am connected at 70 Mb.
Obviously not the end of the world - I just hope it's not going to do this every month

Sounds like line management(not a lot Plusnet can do) -

My experience with plusnet has been excellent.
Was running virgin - but not in a cable area so max speed was 2mb Down and 600kbs Up. Ping 100+
Decided to go 'infinity' as cost was not going to be that much more than virgin. Read up and realized that in addition to BT , sky and Plusnet provided a fibre to cabinet service.
Sky got kicked into touch 1st - Cost
BT second - found that I could not ring to discuss , the on-line chat was next to useless as all they were interested in was a sale (and any sale!)- Queries were not answered. AND cost was too great.
Plusnet - rang 2 or 3 times and got answers to ?'s . Did not feel pressured . Decided that I was not interested in the free Sport package with BT and as Plusnet were cheaper made the decision.
They advised that anticipated speed would be 41-44mb and was tempted to go with the 38mb package , but as such was only marginally cheaper than the 76mb service decided to go with the possibly faster (unlimited) package.
Was able to provide Mac code on 24.03 and same day was advised engineer would be with me on 01.04. Router came through post a few days later.
Yesterday engineer came , fixed new socket and modem then headed to the cabinet to enable. 10mins after leaving he was back & assisted me in setting up the router. Painless.
Currently running a very pleasing 65.24 Down + 14.03 Up. Ping = 40ms (Better than forecast)
Did have to ring CS as noticed that the router had a 'WPS' button. It was not on but having researched noted that it could be a security flaw.Rang and after a wait of about ten mins got through to technical who walked me through the routers login etc to enable me to disable it - job done
