Also, once I took it down, and assigned one of my own, I was able to fight my own pokemon to (slowly) up the prestige level. Interesting that this is allowed. Regardless, there was no one else on the yellow team nearby and my Hypno was only 877CP so it was back to red team before I got home 10 mins later...

You get 1 Pokemon to train at a gym held by your own team and you get 6 to attack a gym held by an enemy team

Understood. I really need to find some good locations to get some good pokemon. I'm level 20 but my best pokemon is a ~1150CP Flareon with pretty poor IVs and attacks.

The latest update is still annoying me. Went through 4 great balls and a razz berry yesterday (out of pokeballs) trying to catch a ~100CP Weedle. I'm in the habit of catching everything I see for their candy. Was away in Greece for a week and then at a caravan site this weekend so I hadn't hit and pokestops for a while. Ran out of all types of pokeballs entirely at one point...

I'm not bothered about that, it's been fun but it's not something i plan to continue playing, just been something to kill the slow periods.

e; Oh but then you're insane... Hm...

I still haven't had a chance to play this... I had a Windows phone when it released, which obviously is not supported... I then replaced the Windows phone with an iPhone, but the iPhone has a GPS fault and is being returned... :(
 
Ive had it on, upside down in my pocket for "battery saver" and it just seems to not update. some days it is really accurate and others it doesnt think ive moved at all. Super annoying.

Battery saver won't stop your phone from going to sleep/locking so if that happens movement will stop being tracked. I changed my phone settings to stay on for 15mins to get around it as it was only set as 1min before
 
As far as people can tell it tells the server where you are every 4 minutes or so, and then the server calculates the straight line distance between where you are now and where you were last time.

So walking in a straight line is the best way to get distance for eggs, walking in a straight line and then turning when distance updates is also fine. Walking in circles (depends on circle size I guess) will get you very little distance etc.

Edit: Yeah, my phone is on 10 minute screen off time too for the same reason.

If that is accurate that will be my problem. The MTC is basically a big Ying/Yang so I do tend to walk in circles......hmmm annoying!
 
Yeah, it sucks. The way it calculates distance actually counters how you have to track pokemon currently (if you have a load of pokestops nearby the new method should be better for this) since the current method means you need to walk back on yourself constantly to triangulate where the pokemon is.

It's pretty dumb really since we know that your position is sent all the time anyway otherwise you'd only see pokemon every 4 minutes :p.
 
After hatching my 5th lapras in a row, i have renamed my character Lap Daddy :D.

Also got my gyarados the other day as well as my first snorlax.

Currently level 24 with 7/8 Pokemon over 2k. I have not cheated in any way but i do work next to two stops within range. My gf also plays and so we have been spending a lot of time driving to nice locations and walking around when the weather is good, catching stuff.
 
Went to Manchester for two days - this game is super easy in cities. At home I have be super careful with pokeballs as I often run out but 30 minutes on the bus and I had over 100, end of the trip I have nearly 300 after discarding everything else. Also caught about 10 new pokemon which is pretty sweet. Apparently drowzee are very common.

But gyms are a problem as there are some ridiculously powerful ones around and then get taken after about 30 minutes. At home I can have a gym for a week without issue.
 
I got the ban email today. Probably when I went to see what the tracker was like.
Beware anyone who has used it and still plays the game
