I wish plusnet would pull theirs finger out and get us on it.

Even if they do, remember you won't be able to use it without being shaped/capped/throttled ;) .

Personally, I'm very happy with Max. Both of my lines are syncing at 8128/832 and I haven't had any dropouts not caused by me messing around.

Nice one. Which ISP dude?

i havent been happy, but that is mostly down to my isp. EvolutionDSL. i shall see how it goes with Nildram next week though.

Zen.

Attenuation - 52dB, SNR - 7dB. Currently syncing at 6112/488 with interleaving on.

How do you find ths out, is there an online test I can do to find out my Attenuation and SNR?

i'm happy with mine. been synched at 8mb since day 1 with no disconnects. i was stuck on 2mb throughput for the first 10 days though. but that lifted on day 11. speeds vary between 400 and 700kb/s and i'm not complaining. :)

stats
Code:
Line Mode G.DMT Line State Show Time
Latency Type Fast Line Up Time 08:05:41:34
Line Coding Trellis On Line Up Count 1

	Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 8128 Kbps 448 Kbps
	Noise Margin [B]12.5 dB[/B] 22.0 dB
	Line Attenuation [B]14.0 dB[/B] 7.0 dB
Output Power 17.8 dBm 11.9 dBm

I got them from my router. If your modem/router doesn't report them, you'd need to ask your ISP to do a whoosh test to find your stats - you can't get them by doing an online test.

I've been googling and can't find a test that displays those specific stats, can you point me in the right direction please mate? :)

A whoosh test isn't a test you can do yourself, it has to be done by your ISP.

Ahh right cool. Anyway had a fiddle with my router and can see:

DS Line Atten: 56

US Line atten: 63

Doesn't seem too good.

The critical stats are downstream attenuation and noise margin (SNR).

Ahh my SNR margins are...

Upstream: 21

Downstream 13

Is that pants?
Yes! What speed do you have now? I wouldn't expect more than 2Mbits stable, maybe 2.5 at a push (if you currently have 1Mbit). If 512K, then 1.5Mbit maybe.

From my early tests with maxdsl, its far too sensitive for its own good, and more so again if you live in a heavily populated area with a lot of users using your contention ratio, being 50.1 - 30-1 or 10-1. I feel the more BT lines swap people over, the more strained its going to get, especially at busy periods 4pm - 12pm. Flakey is the word i`d use, as far too many people are bitching about the stability of MAXdsl. Quite a few wish they could go back to normal ADSL , and thats not a good sign. I`ll have to see how my MAXdsl pans out (2.5 to 3 meg) . Its important the line dont drop massive amounts, and i fear for MAXdsl future as more and more people get put on it, and start to use their increased, if speculative speeds

I'm still within my 10 day training period but after 3 days my download speed has doubled to around 2 Mb (which I was never able to get under the old BT limits) and my upload speed has risen also.

I have only had two disconnections in the last 3 days and these happened within the first few hours with no more since.

My experience with Max DSL is brilliant (so far)

As is mine Curly - getting speeds of about 600KB/s whereas before I could only have 1Mbit. Now on 5.5Mbit with no disconnections thanks to my Belkin router and I'm a very happy bunny. My exchange is, and always has been green as it's a village exchange and even at peak I get about 500KB/s :D.
