Hardly.
By smids' approximation, it would give you 171kbps. Insignificant, especially versus the kind of variation people are seeing over 24 hours..

Ok total n00b here...

I'm jammed on an agonising 1 meg line, and reading this ADSL max thing has got me excited... just wondered if anyone can clear things up.

I get a stable download speed of 117.5kbps so it's ok for the speed I've got, however, I live pretty far from my exchange and the BT site says I should only be able to get 512k speeds :confused:

It also goes on to say a line rate of 250kbps is possible if I go with ADSL Max (see quote)

Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 250Kbps or greater

Question is; Do I have to ring them up about this to go on the ADSL Max trial ??

Post your line attenuation and SNR (noise margin) for a guestimate as to what your line will support.
 
Downstream

Connection Speed: 1152 kbps

Line Attenuation: 60 db

Noise Margin: 12 db


Upstream

Connection Speed: 288 kbps

Line Attenuation: 15.5 db

Noise Margin: 21 db


Any help on a guesstimate? :confused:

Well your stats aren't great but you *might be able* to receive 1.8-2.6Mbps according to this but, it depends on a lot of factors so don't think that the speed quote is guaranteed.

Don't get too excited just yet. If you look at the poll, the result of upgrades to ADSL Max (thus far) are not entirely positive. It can take a while for your line to stabalise (if it does!).

MaxDSL - 5.5mb stable rate and router syncing at 6208kbps

Had Max on my Nildram line for a couple weeks now:

Maximum stable rate 8128Kbps
Line speed 8128Kbps
Fault threshold 5689Kbps

Haven't noticed any problems. Seems just as stable as it was before on 2Mb.

Did a quick speed test from mirror.ac.uk and got around 700KB/sec. That's plenty fast enough for me :p

Latency is around 20ms so I must still be on Fast Path mode too.

had a few problems at the start i.e the new maxadsl would only work when either the main phone was unplugged or in use :confused: anyway the phone is unplugged at the mo and i'm steady with downloads of approx 700KB/sec of which i'm very happy.

filters and phone are under investigation but i'm sure its bt's end

Snap (except sync @ 6304 :D).

1Mbit to 5.5Mbit is a good improvement isn't it!
 
Anybody care to comment on my reported router stats and any possibilty of a MaxDSL regrade?

Upstream Rate: 288 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 9 db
Upstream Margin: 25 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 56
Upstream Line Attenuation: 31

was on 2mb with F2S..upgraded to max about 1 month ago

im about 2.2km away from exchange...sync at 8mbit, although downloading i get about 750kb/s max, which i think is great for my distance from exchange :D
