What an awful set of mainstream choices.

1) Con: Theresa May and her obsession with removing civil liberties and privacy.
2) Lab: Comrade Corbyn who has some noble but completely unrealistic and unworkable ideas.
3) Lib: Tim Farron the un-democrat who is even more unappealing than "honest" Nick Clegg.
4) Green: Too loony, even for me.
5) UKIP: Probably on the verge of collapse and too many unsavoury types to trust.
6) Monster Raving Loony: Probably the best of the bunch TBH.
Agreed - all terribad.

Last time I voted green on the basis that, whilst I wouldn't want them in power, it can't be bad to have a pro-environmental voice in government to spearhead environmental concerns. Sadly they didn't win - landslide labour (bristol south). I think all the UKIP voters will go conservative which means, if the labour votes are disgruntled with Corbin, which frankly they should be, and vote lib dem the seat could go to the conservatives !

The voting is so borked.

Not to take anything away form your decision but could you explain? That because of the part Tories played achieving Brexit? Or because you hope the Lib Dems will stop Brexit? Or both.

I am bias as I am a Brexiteer, however, knowing that Brexit is 100% going ahead, wouldn't you want the strongest party negotiating the best possible terms? I can't see the Lib Dems having the power, nor respect to get a half decent deal from the EU.
Both simple as.....

As the ref result came through, I put a tenner on LD to win most seats at the next GE @ 40/1 :D

4/1? I can't see it tbh, Labour's core base is in all the Northern cities which are rock solid which return lots of Labour MP's, given those cities except for Manchester voted mostly brexit I can't see the Lib Dem's with there snobbish attitudes gaining any traction there. You only have to look at places like Liverpool central which on the back of the worse election for Labour since '83 Labour actually managed to increase it's majority.

I'm pretty sure most of the people who votes in those northern cities don't bother looking at the candidate or care who the leader is, so long as it says Labour on the ticket they get the vote whether it's socialist Labour, social democratic Labour, conservative/Tony Blair Labour, communist Labour. Hell I would go as far to say if a female Labour candidate changed there name to Margret Thatcher they would still end up with a thumping majority!

No one should complain about an election.

If you're for her vote for her, if you're not then vote against her.

It is a win/win for everyone of every political view....well unless it's clear the timing isn't good for your side but the time is rarely right for everyone.

Interesting few weeks ahead.

I feel exactly the same. An election will sort out the silly position we are in at the moment with the opposition hampering a good brexit stratedgy.

1. If the conservatives win they'll likely win big. Allowing the government to focus on the brexit deal.
2. If labour lose it'll be the end of Corbyn, and we'll get back a much better opposition.
3. If the opposition win (Lib Dems?) then no more brexit.

So, it's basically a Brexit 2.0 whereby we will be voting definitely for what we want!

No, 40/1. That might well be the case but Labour is a mess and 'traditional' Labour voters were hard into UKIP in a lot of northern cities...so...I dont think any conventional bets are on here!

As much as I think the LIb Dems will do very well in this, you have just thrown that tenner in the bin because they will not win the most seats :p

Maybe (likely!) so but it was in the account as other winnings already and I thought it would be good for a laugh! :p

I wish it was that simple - often there is bad option, worse option and voting against your principles which is just stupid - a real democracy would have an option for voting for all parties to go back to the drawing board.

I hate FPTP. My constituency has a Labour MP. He's a bit of a backbench rebel and on a personal level I like him and how he votes in parliament. I don't really want to vote labour though, as although my MP is good I don't support the direction or leadership of Labour at the moment.

I would like to vote lib dem, but I am weighing that up against tactical voting for labour as I don't want it to fall to a conservative as I expect the UKIP vote to mostly move to the tories. The margins are fairly close so it could make the difference.

Gah.

I for one welcome our Corbyn overlord... lol. Labour will be destroyed, they are completely unelectable. Where is David Milliband? Get him back from NYC after this election as JC will be cooked.

with no credible opposition post election this entire country will get cooked. The poor will literally have their bones ground to dust to feed to the rest of the poor, while May, Johnson et al. drink champagne and toast each other for a job badly done.

This is a great idea, all those dead poor people being buried/cremated when we could be using them to feed the homeless!

when the cons win, this should shut up the remainers for good, kf there is an increase in con votes in Scotland that kills of the Scottish referendum. this kills off the two above and paves the way for a hard Brexit.
This would put the EU in a bad light if they become to aggressive towards the UK.

If this doesn't go how May is expecting, couldnt she just end up with an even more obstructive parliament filled with loads of Lib Dem MP's?

I know this forum is probably not a great indicator but look at the lib dem vote numbers already, especially compared with 2015. There appears to be, on here at least, a monumental shift in support for them.

Very surprised how much support there is for the Lib Dems on here.

well Labour has been taken over by a useful idiot and his band of SJW types straight out of left wing student politics - they're going to be decimated hopefully, though it would be nice to have some form of opposition party and if this can make the Lib Dems the second biggest party in the UK then that would be a good thing IMO
