A bit of wear showing the mileage but no rips or anything. Could do with redoing if I was being picky. Rear seats obviously look ok.

A cat C car isn't a risk because it has to be checked by VOSA anyway to be road legal.
Looks tidy enough, like the option sports seats! One thing that colour match on the front bumper would wind me up no end. The car looks like an Artic Silver car but the front bumper looks to be Polar Silver.

They do not inspect the standard of repairs or anything like that, it is purely a check to ensure the cars identity hasn't been stolen from another car. That's it. The only check the car will get safety wise is a standard MOT test!
All this stuff is trivially easily to read up on before buying something so it honestly amazes me that people perpetuate myths.
Its almost as if nobody uses the rears that much
They do?
For a few months it will be untouched bar maintenance. Oil looks clear though, brakes look good (bar warping so need discs skimming). Need to MOT it
Hi there
Nearly bought myself a Boxster S a couple of days ago for a project.
Maybe I should re-consider its a 2002 Boxster S with 30,000 miles, engine runs fine no issues, but its being parked since 2007 due to the owner passing away.
A friend of a friend who its being passed to wants it gone as its just SORN and taking up space, I nearly snapped there hand of when they said £2000 as I though it was a 2007 car (997) but what they meant is its being stood since 2007 and is a 2002 car (996) but only 30k miles and had zero issues when it was parked.
I just feel as its being outside for around 8 years in the elements and not started or moved in anyway even though its cheap I feel it will cost a few thousand to make it road worthy again so what is a £2000 bargain could cost a few thousand to put right if it needs disc, calipers, pads, bushes, full servicing etc.
Having owned a Porsche one thing it hated was to be stood just for a couple of weeks, let alone 8 years, so skipped on it.

Errr...a £2k Boxster S, even if a non-runner and totally knackered, is a total bargain as the parts are surely worth more than that?
Well if the engine is sound its worth quite a bit.
Still not decided yet, but I don't really want 3 cars again, 2 is one too many in a lot of aspects.
Let me ask but one of my mates is interested and anyone buying will need to pay for collection of the car as its obviously not taxed or MOT.
Can you even fit a child with legs in there? With you sitting in the front at a comfortable driving position?

That's not a child behind your seat.
That's a baby behind the passenger seat
I am thinking in the line of a child without a booster seat.
And now for a nasty bit of cognitive dissonance, because there are two completely contradictory ideas here that you have to hold in your head: the new Boxster is subjectively improved in every area, and yet its not necessarily a better car than the one which went before.
