Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

That's what I really regret with mine now, as I've a few stone chips on mine now and the quote I have from Porsche is more or less the same as the PPF. So I'll have that done when it's next in for a service and have the PPF applies then. It also looks so much better without a front number plate. I do have a sticky plate ready to go on mine once the bumper is done.

Normally my MPG isn't that high as I drive the car in manual mode most of the time which after some spirted driving comes out at around 10/20 MPG. On a long run the car seem to average 30/35MPG with everything left in auto and ACC on.

I know the PPF isn't cheap, but I do it on every car. I have a guy who I've used for 6 years now and he always gives me fantastic discounts, but it gets tiring doing it every 6 months or so (my own fault, I have a problem, I know).

The newer films such as the Xpel Ultimate or the newest Suntek are superb. If anything I prefer the Suntek now, as the clear coat is almost flawless, yet retains all the self healing properties of the Xpel.

Looks awesome Dave.

Also what I thought was a GTS the other day in bright yellow coming towards me was a GT4, a guy who lives just up the road from me has got one identical to yours. I have to say its present on the road is amazing, it really stands out in a good way and looks a very exotic car, more like a small Ferrari than Porsche which I bet many people will mistake it for who are not into their cars.

How is the other car purchase idea going? :D

I was very lucky to get my hands on this car, and I really did regret not putting a deposit on one when they were announced. It definitely gets attention, that's for sure.

I'm still trying to source an M2 that isn't over MSRP. My local Ferrari dealer has a lovely blue one in stock, but they want $20k over. I may just have to stick my name down on the list, pay my deposit, and wait a year. I just don't feel like spending over MSRP for a BMW.

Friend of mine is a hands on Architect, but being female she doesn't get a lot of respect on building sites from the Site Crew management.

She used to have a classic MG and she kept it in mind condition, and she noticed she would get way more props turning up in it from the lads than if she turned up in anything else so she is keen on being in a car that is interesting and good fun to drive.

She has her heart set on a classic 944, doesn't matter which engine as long as its not the older 2.5 one.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...searchad=new,nearlynew,used&logcode=p&adPos=1

She saw this one and it looked in good condition, until she did a HPI check and informed the owner it was a CAT C.

Anyone any advice on purchasing a 944 for around £8k? She is aware it will cost a fortune to run and potentially break down all the time, her MGB was the same.

I sent her the illuminate owned one posted above and she got a good laugh out of it and almost arranged to go and see it.

No one replied to this which is fair enough, small amount of Porsche owners on here and none are older Porsche owners as far as I can tell.

Where should I be posting for advice, anyone any ideas?

Sorry I must have missed this. I currently own a 944 S2 which has the larger 3 liter engine. They are a great car classic that can be used everyday. The engine is great with lots of power (210Bhp). A good one should still feel fast. The chassis is also very balanced and can embarrass most modern car when driven in the right hands.

There is quite a good buyers guide here:

http://philipraby.co.uk/porsche-944-s2-buyers-guide/

When you go to see a car you can get the original spec from a sticker on the rear panel in the boot. This will have the option codes which you can cross ref with this document http://www.clarks-garage.com/pdf-manual/body-01.pdf

Cost of ownership wise. I do about 5k miles per year in it and I've put about £2k a year into servicing, parts and fixing stuff so far. Fuel wise it gets about 30mpg. Insurance is cheap at £230 on a classic policy and tax is also around £230. For a rough idea of the service costs, RPM have some up on their site http://www.rpmtechnik.co.uk/servicing/fixed-price/porsche-944-s2/

As with all classics, buy on condition, not mileage. These S2s, if looked after properly, will go on and on and on.

Getting a good one for £8k may be quite hard now though. If your friend is willing to put a bit more in, this one looks nice.

Amazing, thanks!

Hi guys

I have a 3 year old Cayman 2.9, the facelift model. I have sat nav command but not sure if it currently gives me traffic updates as iv been stuck in traffic several times and don't remember the sat nav warning me and redirecting me.

There is now a nav update available advertised as 'Realtime Traffic Information to be added to PCM for vehicles with PCM 3.1 built after Nov 2012'.

I think its £298.93 as thats what it shows on the their website under Tequipment Finder and is advertised at 'PCM update' - I assume its the same as the above?

Has anyone ever paid to have their PCM updated? Should my PCM not already have traffic updates on such a new car?!

You might be lucky if you email your local opc and ask if your car has ever been updated. (I think they can check your vin).

That sounds like thats a 987 gen2 if that's a running the 2.9 engine, which I believe is running the PCM 3.0 verison. The update for this can be found from a number of places on the internet like eBay etc....

The "Real Time Traffic" update was a promotional update for all owners of PCM 3.1 devices, as this was introduced in the 991 / 981 models. I did enquire about this for mine and I had quote of over £450.00 which I thought was too much for just a "software update".

My two local places and the OPC where my car is from have all quoted the same figure.

Yes mate it is the gen2 car with the 2.9 engine.

Im a little confused as you said earlier you have been quoted £400 for the update but in this post you said its £150 at your local?

Are you talking about 2 different updates?

Sorry, I should have worded it better. All 3 of the OPC's I asked about this update said it would be around £450 ish.

I know there was a promotion on when it was first released for the PCM 3.1 but I asked then and non of the OPC's I asked knew about it.

So we had a lot of small issues with the new Panamera.

Ended up rejecting the car after 3k miles which was accepted.

I'm thinking about ordering the new one but it's got a lot more expensive and the hybrid is not out so I will not get the tax benefit
