Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

My boss has a 2012 991 with PDK, he's wondering if you can turn off the gear change indication when you are in manual mode. We found a link online that shows you how to do it, but his car doesn't seem to have this option. Anyone know if Porsche removed this option in an update or if its now hidden somewhere else ?

Don't you just put it in sport?

Yeah. They're holding their value very well at the minute. Great for current owners, not so good for someone who was looking at picking up a one or two year old model!

Looks at GTS in the garage and smiles, as I can pretty much sell it for what I paid for it new at the moment. :D

No other car for the money has come close to the enjoyment I get from my GTS for some spirited driving and general driving dynamics.

Very jealous, not driven one but even just for looks they are beautiful and as you say...no depreciation!

I'm currently looking at 2013-2014 5 and 6 series BMWs (with an eye on m3's) but if I up the budget only slightly I'm in to good Cayman territory and it is so so tempting.

The trouble is starting a new job soon, there's no work car-park and it's in a bit of a dodgy area. Not somewhere I want to be leaving a Porsche all day every day.

Can't decide whether to hold off and see what happens to post 2012 S models with the 718 being released orrrr...wait and get a 718 myself. Or just be sensible and get a 535d.

In the mean time i'll go back to drooling over GTS's.

Buy a GTS and lease something for work. Really life is too short to drive 2nd best if you have your heart set on something special. I love the 5 series, epic cars, but nothing more than a workhorse. I have zero issue driving my little Polo, it's perfect for just pottering around and I don't need to be seen in a car to feel better. Sure it's nice to see people's reactions to my R8, especially little lads as I was just like them at that age, but it's really unimportant what people think based on the car you drive. Go get the GTS, they are utterly brilliant and get a cheap 100 quid lease motor for parking at the office. Sometimes being anonymous is a great thing.

I had to replace the front radiators on my Cayman last week because one side had been damaged by what I can only imagine to be loose pebbles on a road that was being resurfaced nearby. Thankfully the garage I bought the car from footed most of the bill but they suggested I get some front grilles for added protection.

They suggested these: https://www.zunsport.com/en/porsche....2-front-grille-set-manual-and-pdk?filter=198

I'm not a great fan of Zunsport having seen their grilles on MX-5s and they looked tacky but the added protection is appealing. Should I get them or are there any alternatives out there?

You can make your own, imo having any form of grill is a worthwhile investment and should come as standard on these cars.

So I sold the GT4 today for 95k. Amazing little car but I'm going to slim down to one car now (well for now)

I can't really decide what to do. I have some cash burning a hole in my
Pocket, my 911 is the best spec I have have ever seen and I don't know of I should just keep hold of it but I have a itch for something new.

A 911 GTS is where I would like to be but it's in my eyes not worth 100k. 80k for a good spec yes but 100k is simply too much for a normal 911.

So I am considering this. It's a lot of car for money and only a few k on top of my 911. Maybe the GTS prices will fall over the next year so it could be a good stop gap.

On the other hand my 911 is just lovely. I have had it for a year which is the longest I have ever kept a sports car so maybe I just keep that?

I even thought about ordering a new I8. BMW are offering 23k discount on new and free finance over 4 years but the new one is around the corner.

458 still out of budget? Not tempted to scratch that itch?
