Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Egg on your face BMW:-

Power is not everything, considering that's a real entry level spec Cayman from Porsche, no ceramics, no diff, heavier/bigger wheels, no vector control and no buckets.

Latest Cayman from Porsche gotta be one of their best cars for a long time! With rumours of a GT4 Cayman coming as well.

In fairness the BMW is great too, but the Cayman is in a different league when it comes to driving pleasure and handling ability. :)

So why the "Egg on your face" comment???

Why so serious?
Tongue in cheek, I own a BMW and I love their cars too. But as good as a BMW is even with the pinnacle of the M3 CSL there is nothing that can really match the driving dynamics and chassis of a Porsche without going into silly silly money territory.

They should do a rematch, the M235i with a diff fitted against a Cayman with the go faster options or just put up against a Cayman S, but then money differential would be quite large.

:p Way it was worded suggest other wise... but if thats the case fair enough...

Someone who wants a 2 series, is not going to be looking at a cayman are they. Maybe if they are looking at a 235i but a 235i is a far better day to day choice. Plus running costs are a ton cheaper.

Do they even compare on price? I would imagine a base spec Cayman needs at least £45K worth of optional extras before it's on par.

You also don't need to own a certain brand of car to comment on a model they sell. It doesn't really hold much weight unless you own the actual model in discussion.

Having driven a 1M coupe, 130i, 135i, 330i, 530i, M3, M5 and M6 and every Porsche model, I've got quite a good idea on how they drive. ;)

But agreed as to why EVO are comparing these two very different market sector cars is unknown.

Yeah but you don't own those cars. And isn't the question which one would you own?

Which is better to drive vs ownership prospect is a far different question.

I could happily live with either, BMW hugely quick in straight lines and an engine wanting to be tuned easily for little money.

Porsche a precision driving instrument, nuff said, having only two seats is not an issue for me, people can get the bus. :D

I'd not be upset at the prospect of either if given to me, if it was my own money then a Cayman GTS if what I'd probably go with or even better just stick with my 911. :)

Given the choice I would have the Cayman over the BMW for sure but I just don't see where they are very comparable choices.

The BMW is a hotted up version of a coupe/hatch, whereas the Cayman is a sports car from the word go.

They are not really, hence the comment as to why EVO are comparing them, surely a Z4 of some description would be a better comparison to a Cayman. :)
