Good effort - I clocked 58 and 65 on mine.

Well I will have a different speed when I pass MOD 1 tomorrow, Driving school I am learning with hired the DSA Track on saturday and sunday so we could learn the exact course so ended up having a bit of a laugh with the Timing gates lol

Replaced my 848 with a new 1198S this week, full Termi system, works slipper clutch and a boat load of carbon fiber!

This sits next to the 1098R and Desmosedici RR in the stable now.

Brb, the bike is filthy as been commuting, but will get some pics of my price and joy :)

Not as rich as the fellow above, so don't epect a massive court yard and lush backdrop, but I think my ex council estate road will do lol.

Not sure what went on with my phone camera, the red's look pink! Anyways, will do me thinks :D

2 things, first, new termi stickers on their way as one side has fallen off/left the back of the old sticker on and I wanted larger stickers hehe. Secondly, when you see it you will laugh :D

Why would you need an 1198S AND a 1098R? They're so close to eachother they may as well be the same bike.

Totally different bikes, you'd need to ride them to see what I'm talking about.

Our 1098R is over 190bhp, the 1198S is 180 (both have full Termi setups). The R is nowhere near as easy to ride as the S, it's an animal but it's a real sense of occasion when you ride it. Not to mention it's a great bike to have in the collection.

The S is so much easier to live with at slow speeds, it doesn't jerk about, the fueling isn't as snatchy low down and you can actually hold a balanced throttle without the engine hunting like on the R.

Lovely bike Ags ;)

Still miss my 748SP, loved that bike cos it made me work the gearbox to get anywhere quickly, unlike the point and shoot missiles of today ;)

Plus I still think they look better than the new ones !

Oh yeah , live long and prosper !

made me lol

I've never ridden a Ducati, but would bite someones hand off for a spin on a plain vanilla 916, just to see what everyone raved about all those years back..
Would probably feel very slow to you now. Imagine the speed of your TL1000R with the handling closer to the ZX10R (but still not quite, it was good for it's time but not compared to modern machines).

I think some people get a bit confused at the 748-996 (maybe even the 998) range as people seem to forget they are particularly old bikes!

The 748 will only do 155mph! And that's tucked in with the wind up my arse! Not that I would ever do such speeds on the roads... It's the torque though, as lets face it, when will you use those speeds more than pulling away.

I still give my mates with their brand new k8 gsxr's and r6's a good run for their money off the line, keep up until we hit triple figures :(

But it's the passion, I love ducati's and have now owned 2 748's. Although, next year I have to make the choice, go down the newer range and get a 1098 or stick to the older (sexier looking) range and get a 996/998? (maybe a 916).

Anyways, I commute on my Duc and have not had a single boring day :D Still pat my girl when she pulls me out of a situation I thought I would not be walking away from, or when I am at a set of lights and open her up to see people turn around half a mile down the road in curiosity to what that huge roar is... Makes me smile it does, makes me smile... What biking is about :D

996 / 998 are only going up in price

I was after one as a track day bike but they are becoming so much of a classic I'll probably just use the 1098S which is more capable on the track and keep the 996/998 as a roadbike.

+1 as to why I ride a Ducati too, plus when I open the garage door I still go corrrrr thats gorgeous :D

Gonna drop in to Ducati Glasgow to quiz Martin about the new Strada Aperta as next year is World Ducati Week at Misano and I'm going !!! This is gonna be the road trip I promised myself :D

Look at the R1's lights, To me it looks like some sort of animals eyes are popping out its head lol

Would still love one tho.
