Just hacked my modem to get my real line stats and noticed something a little odd:

Does this seem a little low to anyone else? The installation engineer checked the line and quoted around 115/35 as my attainable, and having an upload of only 7.5 attainable seems a little odd. Anybody?

can you post the other part please xdslcmd info --show

Looking at line attenuation and signal attenuation and the fact you are only using 2 up-stream and down-stream tones means you a quite a distance from the cab.

What was the estimate from BT checker?

Did any of these modems get sent with a LAN 2 port? Or did they all only have one LAN port?

Actually - turns out i've got one of the ECI Telecom LTD routers.

Anyone any info on how I unlock this?

It can be done, but it's not really for novice to do, take a picture of your cab as you might not have an ECI cab.

I'm using the inbuilt modem part of the Draytek 2850n.

I'm going to assume there is a decimal place on the SNR

How far is the cab away from you what was your BT estimate on the wholesale checker?

The wholesale checker listed my line as 7.5mbps.

This is a direct copy/paste from my modem stats:-

FTTC was installed wednesday, my sync hasn't settled down yet.

How can I calculate how far the cabinet is from my house?

Using GoogleMaps the cabinet is roughly 1 mile (via roads) from my house.

Using the roads is a pretty good guide. You're about 1600 metres from the cabinet, so your speed isn't that much of a surprise, to be honest. What speeds were you getting on ADSL?

I have just moved into this property & the previous owner didn't use the internet.

The wholesale checker estimated my ADSL2+ speed as 512 - 1.5mbps.

That ECI stuff is a bit over my heard really. Think I'm going to try and get hold of a HG612 from Ebay.

Could I connect this up to my machine and do all the config I need to before actually plugging it into the VDSL line - so its just a simple plug in and away we go?

Just a bit of a bump, as the thread seems to have gone quiet. When the engineer came to install everything I'd already unlocked an Echolife modem using the help in this thread, so he gave me a spare :cool:

Can anyone tell me anything about my stats, that's not already obvious? I.e. I'm at the sync limit at what the line can achieve.

Here is a route map from our house to the FTTC cabinet, http://goo.gl/maps/YMu5d although I would trim 100-150m off for the roundabout so I would say we're closer to 650m from the cab.
