Post your hard drive benchmarks!

no idea

No idea why.

Here is a RAID 0 version of 2x Lexar 4GB 300x cards ...

This is a software RAID, using windows dynamic volumes. Any idea why HDTUNE and HDTACH wont load ? I would like to see their results on this config.

What a waste, from the graphs it looks like your interface to the drives is causing a bottleneck.

I've checked the configuration for my PCI-X slot and the speed is set to maximum. I then looked up some specs for my SCSI cable and even though it supports U320 the rated speed is only 150mb per second which correlates with the graph for the 15k drives.

Can anyone recommend a decent SCSI cable that I can purchase?

Very very poor performance of the western digital, I'd have thought the Maxtor would've been the weakest, quite surprising that!

Test setup:
Intel E6300
Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro
2 x 1gb Kingston DDR2-533
Hitachi T7K250

SAS controller:
Adaptec 4805SAS without BBU

Performance of 2 individual Seagate Savvios 15k.1

Performance of both in Raid 0 with stripe size of 64kb (did 2 tests)

4 disk raid 0 using 7200.10 160gb disks

But using 53% of CPU.. not much point in sustained transfer if your CPU spends all it's time doing disk I/O..

Also all the benches here are sequential read.. so they're the maximum performance you can get. It would be interesting to see their random access performance..

For months and months i've been informed via email of comments on this thread. Ultimately i have came to the conclusion that:

A. I really don't care about Hard disk speed anymore, it matters not!
B. You lot shouldn't either, get out in the sun!

:D
