Post your hard drive benchmarks!

Disabled it, still getting 16.4ms :(
You were getting 15.9 before, sure nothings accessing the drive while you bench?

**edit**, instead of disabling it I just moved it all way up to 254 so its litrally disabled, is 13.8ms ok for these drives?
that`s still a bit high, mine`s set to disabled and I get 12.6.

Try rebooting, wait a few mins for windows to settle down then run the bench and don`t even move the mouse.

Does it matter what SATA port the drive is in? Should I use one of the 6 yellow ones or 1 of the 2 purple ones?

Use the yellow ones (Intel), I've read somewhere on this forum the purple ones (JMicron) aren't quite as good. Of course you could try both and and compare the results, I'm now contemplating whether the purple ones would be good enough for a DVD drive, which would then free up a yellow one for another hard drive! Hmmm...

My mobo`s old so couldn`t comment on the coloured ports, wouldn`t hurt to try a diff one though. Try a diff cable aswell and make sure there isn`t a background process interfering.

I suppose it`s also possible WD have slowed the drive down too like they did with the 320GB version, now that the newer drives are coming through.

Hitachi T7K500 500gb 7200rpm 16mb. Nothing amazing but not bad. I have a WD3200AAKS coming tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how that compares.

Dell 2950 III
Dell SAS 6/iR (based on SAS LSI1068E)
2x Quad 2.66 Xeon's
16GB of DDR2 667
4x 146GB Seagate Cheetah 15k.5's in RAID0.

Stripe size cannot be changed on the 6/iR, but i think the default is 64KB. The test was using a 8MB block size.

I might be changing to the Dell PERC 6/i soon.
