Nice, lots of speakers :p

The blue glow though behind the TV when lights turned off would annoy me though lol

Nah it's actually pretty useful - it stops your pupils from dilating so much (in a dark room) so it lets you see better contrast (if you see what i mean). The lighting does pretty much every colour (as well as silly transitions that i don't bother with).

Normally I have it on white - 6500K to be precise! :p

I do not have a TV but i would like to get a projector and screen at some point.

Things i want to buy

new desk
new chair
two monitor arm and cable management for monitor cables
ultra small form factor pc to replace my old dell pfsense box which looks crap.
a stand for the av receiver of some kind and eventually a better av receiver
1080p projector and screen

Also i am renting so can't hide cables in walls etc

ONKYO TX-DS595 (ebay £35)
Wharfedale Diamond 8 (5 speakers)

I did not know where to put the front speaker as i have a strange setup. I think if i didn't live by myself i would probably put the pc some where else and then have a big tv there. But i am not sure if i should buy a dell 23" ips with better res and viewing angle or save up for projector or 42" plasma. I like the idea of a projector because then i could bring the screen down when i use it and not have to move my pc. work in progress.

Hadn't realised that you'd gone the BC route. You been talking to WM?

I've spoken to Tony a few times previously, and had him do a few small jobs for me in the past, and always liked the Bel Canto systems I've heard. The smaller eOne components I ended up buying were partly out of a desire to reduce the amount of space taken up by the hifi. I also managed to damage my old DAC (a modified M-Audio Superdac), and had previously wanted to upgrade the amp...so figured the S300iu and DAC3 would work well together and take up a lot less space than most other options.

I have played with both compoennts a bit over the past few days and found I prefer the sound with the DAC in fixed output mode running into the amp conventionally, rather than using the DACs digital volume control and running the amp in bypass mode (effectively as a power amp). It sounds a bit more natural this way, more body and less analytical to my ears, although its not quite as detailed or 'quiet'.

Sadly the room the setup is in at the moment is not really ideal, its a loft room with sloping ceilings and piles of stuff pretty much everywhere apart from where the hifi/tv is, so I can't really get the full potential out of it. These speakers could do with loads more space around them, and a more solid floor underneath....

New PMC DB1M-Ci centre channel to match DB1i fronts
Behringer A500 powering fronts from AV pre outs
Sony STR-2400ESB
Belkin PF40
DSpeaker Antimode 8033c

Still haven't decorated downstairs yet so it's still corner based for now. Longer term plans involve a pair of FB1i for the front, moving the DB1i's to the rear, a new sub and projector. Lots of saving ahead. :)

From the old fat 32" ish

Small and simple :p Screen is great! Looks rather tidy, though would still prefer a 5:1 if it would work with the room :( -which it wouldn't-

LG 47LE8900

I waited 6 years to buy a decent TV. I am glad I waited.. the THX cinema mode is delicious. Now I will have to spend tomorrow cleaning up the gaff and arranging all those wires :|
